Is this creepy? Thoughts?

My 19 month old daughter was laying with me on the sofa earlier facing inwards toward the back of the sofa and the wall. She does this thing where she kisses the air at people, animals or if she sees an animal on TV. While she was laying there she looked past me up at the wall, half way up between the back of the sofa and the ceiling. She raised her head as if something caught her attention, she then pointed, smiled and did the air kiss. Obviously when I looked there was nothing there. Things like this have happened before but nothing like this, I thought oooh that's a bit weird. It's a weird time of year too, tomorrow is the anniversary of my Nan's death, not recent but I was very close to her, it's also the anniversary tomorrow of my mother's cancer diagnosis who passed away 6 years ago. I inherited my mother's house and my daughter and I live here with our dog. Am I crazy to think we might have had a visit from someone or something? Any thoughts and similar experiences welcome!

A visit from the deceased would not be my first thought. Is it not about this age they start to get imaginations. Imaginary friends and so on. Could she not have just been in a little day dream? My toddler would talk to nothing in imaginative play sometimes. On it's own I dont think it is anything. Kids do weird stuff. My first thought would be she was relaxed and almost having a dream about something.

I think you’re reading a bit too much into it in all honesty. She’s a baby exploring the world, they do things like that sometimes.

I’d be thinking it was a visit from the other side as o like the thought that they are around us.

As she gets bigger if she continues to see things you can’t she will no doubt tell you who is there if you ask (show her photos of her late gran and great gran etc. so she knows who they are).

I suppose it depends if you believe in anything like that or not. I've had quite a few strange experiences in this house over the years but I am open to it just being her imagination. It was very strange though as she was very alert.

Not creepy, imo. Normal.

EarthwormJim9 · 08/03/2020 22:18

Afraid to say it but there’s literally nothing in it. No visits.

Sorry, just realised my previous post is ambiguous. I meant I don’t think there’s anything “woo” going on, it’s just normal toddler stuff.

When my daughter got married she had an 8 month old baby, and her sister had a 6 month old. At the reception we laid the babies side by side in a playpen while we were eating. All of a sudden they both started giggling, and it looked as if someone was tickling their tummies, with them squirming, and seeming to grab hold of hands.

It could have been a shadow or more likely an imaginary friend - my DD, now 23 and fine and healthy etc, had long conversations with an imaginary friend as a toddler. And ran room to room with her. Bit like bebop in inside out movie.

My ds said to us when he was 3 "Uncle Joe is happy". Uncle Joe was his Godfather who died unexpectedly just prior to his birth. He was gazing up and and nodded and then said it again.

Starstar7 · 08/03/2020 23:15

Of course she didn't see a ghost because they do not exist 🙄

AcrossthePond55 · 08/03/2020 23:27

It's not creepy. And if it makes you feel happy to think that your mum is keeping an eye on you and DD, what's the harm in that?
