At what age did you let your child decide not to see other parent?

Ds was 12....
He went from being with exh more than me (due to miles), to going nc with df.
At 16 he is very happy and doing amazing at school..

My youngest was 8 when i split from first husband. If ever she was too tired or not in the mood for going to his i supported her and she stayed home. I would never have sent her where she didn't want to go at any age.

Once she was 10/11 she organised her own contact times with her waste of space father and contact grew to virtually non existent within 12 months. He couldn't be arsed deep down and she picked up on it.

My friend’s daughter was 13. The relationship was a bit strained.

She’d gone to her father’s house one Saturday night supposedly to spend time with him, and he and his wife buggered off out until 1am leaving her in charge of her 1 year old half-sibling. She didn’t mind babysitting (within reason!) but she did mind being taken advantage of. She stopped going at that point.

They’re back in touch now, occasionally, and quite cordial. She’s 23 and he and his wife often invite her to visit to coincide with half term, presumably to keep an eye on the child (now 11). She’s wise to this and always resists.

Is your ex a nuisance like this guy, or is it something more serious?
