To dispute parking charge

I stay in a restricted parking area. Haven't sorted permit (my fault) but was always able to park down lane at end of my flats when needed for the last 2.5 years. Just over Christmas they decided to start ticketing there. I didn't know and hardly drive car. Got back to 5 in the space of 10 days whilst away.

I've disputed it and they've said it doesn't need to be yellow lines etc and there is signs as you enter the area to park in a bay.

However the code is for obstructing rather than not parking in a bay.

Does anyone have any experience of this? Is there anything i can do to check why this has changed? Council not forthcoming.

AIBU to continue to appeal or should I just pay it?

You knew it was permit parking, and want to dispute the ticket(s) because you have gotten away without having a permit for the past 2.5 years?

I thought that was a part you were able to park at given previous experience/all of the other cars parked there so didn't think that fell under the permit parking remit like you get in some areas but if IABU ill take it... Was just wondering if anyone had a similar experience/advice... If its pay it then so be it Blush

If the code is for obstructing rather than just not parking in a bay then it's got to be worth appealing. To be honest you were kinda asking for it but based on that technicality I'd go for it.

Pepipoo is a good place to research/ask about this sort of thing: forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30
