NCT classes - mix up with dates.

My local NCT group have sent me details of the classes for October (I'm due in November) and they had got one of the dates wrong. When I called up to enquire about it I basically got fobbed off, with them asking me to ring back next week because they were too busy to deal with my query at the moment. I only wanted to check a date... if they were so busy, why did they even pick up the phone.

Have decided that if my local NCT can't get get their dates right, and can't be bothered to answer a simple request, then they can't be worth the £159 that they are charging for the course (OK, that includes the membership, but what exactly does that get you). Think I will go for the NHS classes. They're closer to my house anyway..

Possibly being hormonal and ranting more than usual about something that's not really that important.. am I being over the top about this?

argh.

I believe it is slightly cheaper to join the NCT if you arrange to pay by direct debit.

Yes, you do get a discount for paying by direct debit. You can also join for £1 if you are in receipt of certain benefits. This is to make the NCT accessible to all families. The membership hotline will be able to give you details. Let me know if you need the number.

Kekouan - vg bf counsellors in West Oxon. Have to say that any one can contact them, you don't have to be a member. But if no one stumped up the membership I don't know where the money would come from to train them.

I also used to take the bookings and once some one got really cross with me over the phone. I had interrupted dd's bedtime story to take the call so I was and wondered why I bothered. Not suggesting you were like that. I'd have been mortified if dh had answered the phone and been rude to some one though.

Dear Kekouan,
Congratulations on your pregnancy. I hope things are going ok for you.
On the NCT volunteer issue, by dec 2007 all areas should have a paid employee to administer antenatal bookings.
Hopefully this will ensure a speedy ,polite and friendly response. The down side of this is that course prices will be increasing a bit.
