Anyone ordered a mattress from John Ryan by design

Moving house soon and I cannot wait to get rid of our shit mattress. My back is in tatters and frankly it's ridiculous! Also we have 2 dogs that somehow take up an insane amount of bed despite being fairly small!

So I've decided to order a king size zip and link mattress from John Ryan by design but I'm so nervous about ordering a bed I can't test out before buying!! I've been awake all night with some serious pain in my backside and just above it due to our shitty bed and I've had enough!!

So has anyone ordered from there? Am I throwing money down the drain? The trust pilot reviews are fabulous but I'm so worried!

Not from John Ryan, but I ordered a Hypnos one from John Lewis in the sale. It was originally £2500 reduced to £1000 but not available in my local JL so I had to buy untried. I was a bit wary too but the reduction was so tempting.

It's absolutely wonderful, I've not regrets at all. I think if you get the right firmness for your body weight(s) you can't really go wrong with any good quality sprung mattress (memory foam is a different matter though...)

Yes, I have. At the time, they only had one vegan mattress so I had to have that one, rather than the one I wanted but it is fantastic. I would definitely use them again.

We ordered on about a year ago from there. Didn’t get on with it so left it the suggested amount of time and as it still wasn’t right, we then arranged to send it back under their 3 month guarantee (?). Easy to arrange and got money back no problems. We’d paid quite a lot so I definitely wasn’t going to keep it if it wasn’t as comfy as hoped! Hope that reassures that you can send back if not right... their service was great

We did in 2012. I love mine. I went for the softest at the time. My husband went for extra hard but he doesn't like his, saying it's too soft.
Not sure which one of their range we went for but it's very good quality for a lot less money than shops sell the expensive ones at. Ours is also zip and link and superking size.

Yes - had one for nearly 2 years and it is the comfiest bed I have ever had. Seriously, even 2 years on we are still remarking on how lovely it is!

Service at the ordering stage and upon delivery was great too. The guarantee that they will take it back if you don't get on with it should give you some reassurance.

My only slight issue is that the mattress we chose turned out to be a very warm one - which my husband absolutely loves, and he has completely ditched his electric blanket, but as I have been struggling through the menopause it hasn't been so good for me. I would still order from them again but would need to have a discussion with them about the right mattress for me (possibly need zip and link like you have ordered).

Ive got expensive one from John Ryan.
Two things to note , which I'd wished Id thought of at time.

  1. I used my weight at time to choose firmness for my side of bed and didn't figure in what would happen if I put on weight. Which I have done in last 2 years, so it no longer suits me. Sad
  1. Superking mattresses are bluddy heavy to flip and require two people to do it and you are stuck doing it in certain way if the 2 sides of mattress are of differing firmness.

DH happy with his side though, which I pinch when he's away.

Personally, I'd be reluctant to choose another mattress untested. But thats just my experience and down to my lack of thinking. Blush

I also had a mattress from John Ryan. It's lasted very well, but we are about ready for a new one now. I would use them again, but would go for a zip/link next time, as I found the last mattress a bit too hard. With a topper it was perfect for me, but DH wasn't as keen. We could have sent it back, but DH got used to it, while i still loved it. A zip link would keep us both happy though, so will go with that next time. Glad others have found these good.
