Ibuprofen when pregnant

Posting for traffic sorry

I've just realised earlier today I took an ibuprofen instead of a paracetamol. I'm 21 weeks pregnant. I've googled it and now I'm sobbing because I might have done some damage to my baby. I can't get through to the maternity ward. Does anyone know how bad it is is one likely to cause much damage?

Don’t panic! One dose isn’t going to harm your baby. I completely understand the stress of this kind of thing, but it really isn’t going to have caused a problem.

Highly unlikely to have done you or the foetus any harm, but you are obviously careless with medicines.

As you are before week 30 you are not going to have done any damage from 1 dose. See above link

I was on a twice daily dose of slow release ibuprofen when we decided to try to conceive. My consultant’s advice was to slowly wean myself off it before TTC (which I did) but that if I needed to take the occasional ordinary one then not to worry, it was fine (and better than my condition flaring up). It’s regular or heavy use that is linked to problems. So don’t worry.

Thank you thank you. I'm so worked up. They were in bag I thought I only had paracetamol

I'm sure it's fine but ring 111 for medical advice if I were you

TiptopJ · 07/03/2020 23:07

That a good idea thank you

I know this is just anecdotal, but I took a double dose (800mg) after running a half marathon. That afternoon I found out I was pregnant (4 weeks). I had no issues whatsoever!

RaspberryBubblegum · 07/03/2020 23:10

Is this your first pregnancy?
I remember during my first I had the worst cold and sinus infection. I couldn't breathe through my nose and couldn't sleep. By day 3 or 4 I finally caved and took one spray of sinex and then felt incredibly guilty for doing so.
Looking back now I can laugh at how silly I was but at the time I was sobbing like a lunatic 😂
One ibuprofen will be fine and congratulations on the pregnancy 💐

One ibuprofen will be fine.

Go have a drink of water, download a relaxing book to read and go and have an early night.

Don't worry OP I also took some around the 22 week mark, I had incredibly bad tooth ache and took a ibuprofen/paracetamol cocktail at 3 in the morning. When I told the dentist she had a right go at me for taking it but I was desperate! Midwife just told me not to worry. You will bee completely fine!
