To ask for advice regarding my iPhone?

Hi,
I’m trying to get on to my old iphone 4/5 with lots of photos and videos on it that I really want to see. However I cannot remember the passcode and I’m so upset. It’s mainly ds3’s baby photos on there and I just don’t know what to do.

The iPhone was never backed on to iCloud because we’re talking 2014/15 and I can’t even remember even knowing about ICloud back then.

Is there any way at all that I can get around this. Can they be uploaded on to a laptop without unlocking it?

I thought that too! But my local Currys unlocked my brothers phone (iphone) for him. It was a 4 , I think

Any chance you could ask your brother if Currys definitely bypassed his pin and gained access to the phone? I'm finding it hard to believe that they know how to do this when even Apple don't, like @mnthrowaway202020 says it would be a huge deal if true.

Deux · 08/03/2020 11:30

Is it a 4 digit passcode? How many have you tried? Are your passcodes random or do you use some format? Did you ever write them down? Old note book maybe

If all else fails try asking St Anthony for help in finding your passcode. Worth a try.

mnthrowaway202020 · 08/03/2020 11:40

@coconuttelegraph exactly, you explained better than I did!

Last resort is trying data recovery software/services. I’ve never used any so can’t recommend one, apparently it’s expensive and not guaranteed to work so risky.

Otherwise try your best to figure out the passcode. Is it numeric or alphanumeric? If numeric, how many numbers? I’m sure you’ve tried your usual passwords - go through this list of common ones too

funinthesun19 · 08/03/2020 11:42

Deux yeah it’s a 4 digit pin. I’ve tried 5 times now.

I could have sworn it was my year of birth or my ex’s but neither of those work. I’m so angry at myself for being so careless. I should have wrote the bloody thing down.

Who/what is St Anthony?

If that was your line of thinking try your children’s years of birth too, or yours/theirs/exes date and month Eg 10/12 1012

AngelaScandal · 08/03/2020 11:47

Patron saint of things lost or hopeless cases. Cant remember which. Regularly called upon by my Catholic mother.

IF you use dates of birth what about DC dates of birth?

funinthesun19 · 08/03/2020 11:51

I definitely don’t think it was my children’s dates or years of births.

How many attempts do you get before it’s completely locked?

Ahh. I’ll have a look in to that.

That’s completely dependant on your phone’s settings so couldn’t say. Your iPhone should give you a warning before that happens though

funinthesun19 · 08/03/2020 12:43

Ah thank you. Fingers crossed I’ll somehow remember it one day.

BikeRunSki · 08/03/2020 12:49

Did you upload anything onto FB or insta?

funinthesun19 · 08/03/2020 13:19

Bike yes quite a few on to Facebook. I’m going to go through all my parent’s photos tomorrow too. They have always taken loads from day 1.

I will and I'll report back GrinSmile

Unlock is not the same as passcodes ! Unlock is getting it off one network to another

I’d try every password you ever used as if anything like me
You only have a select few

SpoonBlender · 08/03/2020 13:47

Like I said above, a new iPhone won't be unlockable but yours might be. Ring back and say "it's an iPhone 4 that's been in the cupboard for years", you might get more of a positive response then.

I think we all know that the OP has forgotten her postcode, I don't think anyone has posted about changing network. It might not be technically correct but people use unlock to mean either, from the context I think we're all talking about the same thing.

ivfbabymomma1 · 08/03/2020 14:34

Have you tried the usual 1111, 1234, 0000 or a bank pin? Your name as if you were typing on an old Nokia?

funinthesun19 · 08/03/2020 18:13

ivfbabymomma1 No not tried those but I definitely know it wasn’t anything like that.

OP posts:
Deux · 08/03/2020 19:22

Did you try the birthdas/birth year backwards!

Maybe write down all the ones you’ve tried and it might trigger a memory

Deux · 08/03/2020 19:23

Should have been ? Not !

funinthesun19 · 08/03/2020 21:44

This question doesn’t apply to my old phone obviously, but does anyone know if you can print photos off at Max Spielman at those photo Kiosk things by using the charging cable and not by using WiFi?

OP posts:
CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 08/03/2020 21:49

If you plug your phone in to a computer via usb and double click the device in file explorer, all your photos will be there. Not sure why this hasn’t been suggested yet? support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4027134/windows-10-import-photos-and-videos-from-phone-to-pc

mnthrowaway202020 · 09/03/2020 00:03

@CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt Did you actually read your link?

1. Turn your phone on and unlock it. Your PC can’t find the device if the device is locked.

OP doesn’t have the password to unlock their phone, hence the thread?
