As people are taking this time to stock up/panic buy ( choose as appropriate), please remember the food bank donation points at the supermarkets.

Totally agree! I think the numbers of donations will plummet sadly as people think only of themselves.

There's a food bank at our local church and it was stolen from recently. How desperate must someone be to steal from a food bank?

NailsNeedDoing · 07/03/2020 09:15

Yanbu, food banks, unfortunately, have an important place in society at the moment. But there are other charities that are struggling too, and I never understand why there are often threads like this reminding people to donate to food banks or advising on what they’re likely to need, and I never see plugs for them on these pages.

Good point.

Panic buying will hit the poorest hardest. They will not have reserves to fall back on if the shops are out of food

"How desperate must someone be to steal from a food bank?"

Not desperate, just absolute scum.

JasonBrun · 07/03/2020 10:31

...

No, probably desperate. Noone is stealing tins of beans with a larder full of bacon.

Not everyone starving is able to access foodbank. You need referral, of which you're only allowed a limited number.

Absolutely! There are so many people who cannot afford to stockpile or buy extra. Well Said.
