Is this misleading? - holiday

I have attached a picture.

What would you expect this covered?

The "providers may charge additional fees" were confirmed once payment had been made and an email had been sent.

Does lastminute.com charge handling fees when making any changes in addition to the fees the airline themselves charge?

Tddnamechanger · 06/03/2020 20:50

It would appear that they do.

The reason that I ask if that I booked a holiday that I had to cancel or change after 2 weeks due to a shock family diagnosis.

LM are saying that neither the transport or hotel allow cancellations or changes and so I do not understand why they sold this to me. (This is stated in the t&c's that was sent after payment was taken)

I have only paid half of the holiday but they have said that I need to pay the full amount even though I have cancelled.

It does seem an odd add-on as surely you can modify your bookings yourself online if needed?

Tddnamechanger · 06/03/2020 21:08

When I booked, i thought it would be an option to change dates/cancel based on this wording.

I would have been prepared to pay a fee but have been told outright that it is not an option.

What airline and hotel is it? Can you contact them/look at their terms and conditions online? The wording of the LM premium service is definitely confusing and I can't see that they could ever be useful for a holiday situation. Perhaps they would be ok for other services offered by LM. I did google it and found others in the same situation as you. When are you due to travel as expecting you to pay the full amount if there is still time until your holiday doesnt sound correct. Citizens advice may be able to help further. Can you change the names on the flight tickets and let someone else go?

OwlinaTree · 06/03/2020 21:19

I think that's a pretty poor show. Did you pay extra for a premium package? They shouldn't be giving the impression that you can save on fees if actually that's not going to happen.

chocolatepudandchocolatesauce · 06/03/2020 21:24

It does say you only save on LM handling fees though. It does make it clear third party operators charge their own fees. But it does sell it as a premium service which I agree is misleading.

I’ve booked through on the beach before. Thought I’d save money and book seats directly with the airline but no, OTB had generated an email for the booking for me so I could only book through them, not directly.

I’d imagine it’s a similar sort of concept, anything you’d be able to do with the airline would have to be done through them. So they’re saying you may be able to do those things if allowed. That’s how I take it anyway. But I completely get why you wouldn’t and would assume you could cancel/change date!

I would assume that LM normally charge an admin but this is covered although any charges from providers may still apply.
