To think my friend was incredibly unfair?

I look after a friend's 2 primary school DC's when they've finished school, every Monday. They often have swimming lessons so I take them to that, whilst I have a short swim with my DS and then get ready to get them.

They are on a small break from it so we did a fun swim instead. Their mum asked me to take them to Pizza Express for dinner. The one she was thinking of is no longer there so I took them to Pizza Hut style place instead.

My own DS was asleep and wasn't having anything. We got a huge pizza with bottomless drinks for all of us. The kids had an ice cream each. This all came to £16 so a fairly good deal. Loads of pizza was left over so I packed it up for the kids.

When we got to their house I handed over the change (the mum had given me £40 for their food). The receipt for it all was coincidentally in there to.

I've just received a text from friend saying ''Hi, was your drink at the pizza place paid for by you? Just wondered as the money was for [NAME REMOVED] and [NAME REMOVED]. The pizza was obviously huge so not bothered at that being shared! "

In truth I didn't pay for my own drunk, no. It was £2.70. Yet I don't charge if I've ever picked something up for the boys quickly. I don't charge for petrol going to and from their school or swimming.

Was I really being that cheeky or is she rude? Blush

I like the thought of the voting shooting up over 100% when people vote particularly vehemently Grin

Now following to see what the CF reply is

ShesCurly · 06/03/2020 21:39

I have text that I will no longer be taking the boys swimming. And I hope she can find something else because I am away next Monday. I have said I feel really sad that its come to this.

Good for you OP, what a silly thing for her to do. So petty and ungrateful!

I read these threads and just cannot fathom how someone has typed that message and sent it thinking they're doing something reasonable.

As she's shown herself to be a very poor decision maker I'm afraid you'll probably get a pissy reply but I hope not.

Thanks
tinkerbellla · 06/03/2020 21:40

Just wow. What a cheeky, horrible thing for her to do. You sound lovely too!

tinkerbellla · 06/03/2020 21:42

I just realised my last post sounded sarcastic but to be clear, you sound genuinely lovely!Smile

SchadenfreudePersonified · 06/03/2020 21:44

Ok, £2.70 doesn't seem like a lot, but think of it from the friend's point of view... it is more than the cost of a week's worth of childcare!

Cringing for her. What a stupid thing to do!

JKScot4 · 06/03/2020 21:45

So you collect her TWO kids from school, take them swimming, feed them etc for £2.50 pw and she’s charging you for a fuckin drink????
When you think you’ve read it all on here 🙄🙄

SoftPlayHell0 · 06/03/2020 21:46

You couldn’t make it up could you? Some people. Unbelievable.

Careersytype · 06/03/2020 21:48

What a check fncker. She's a friend?

WingingIt101 · 06/03/2020 21:49

Shamelessly following for updates. OP I’m way too invested, what did she say back!!

DropYourSword · 06/03/2020 21:50

Troll or not, she’s managed to get 100% agreement on Mumsnet, which is pretty bloody rare!!

ShirleyPhallus · 06/03/2020 21:52

100% YANBU?! Wow!

Blueblackrose · 06/03/2020 21:55

You are saving her a ton of money - she is treating you like the very low paid help. This is not a favour - favours are returned by friends- what is she doing for you in return?

Lillybelle05 · 06/03/2020 21:55

Good on you, OP. It reminds me of a guy my DH lived with, they were flatmates, both professionals. DH used to stay over for 2 nights a week at mine and I used to stay over for 2 nights at their place for about 4 months till we got a place together. DH's flatmate asked him how much I'd pay towards the council tax and bills. I texted him after I've heard that and told him to fuck off and resit his maths exams first...then think how much he's saving on DH (who showered and had food at mine on the two days) not being there...and then send me his account details if there's anything left that I still owe him, happy to pay. He never, ever mentioned this again. Enough said, DH and I did not stay in touch with him. Some people are honestly messed up big time.

MarthasGinYard · 06/03/2020 21:58

Was this one of your friends from when you were on TOWIE OP?

Writersblock2 · 06/03/2020 22:01

I’ve read many an AIBU thread in my time but this tops them all. If there is an award for being a cf then this woman has just won it. Good for you for cancelling the arrangement, OP. I hope you find some better friends.

partofthepeanutgallery · 06/03/2020 22:02

I'm glad you have texted her that you're done.

I would have thanked her for calling attention to the fact that she was absolutely taking the piss re your time, care and attention ... and money! ... yet begrudged you a soft drink while you sorted out her children for her. What a cow.

shirleyschmidt · 06/03/2020 22:03

Not that you need it, but here's my official confirmation that YANBU!

Can't wait to hear the CF's reply

Branleuse · 06/03/2020 22:04
