CF swimming lesson mum

My ds attends group swimming lessons and has done for around 6 months. Lovely small friendly group, good teacher and a nice group of parents. New little boy started at the beginning of this term. I have already had to complain about his entourage (mother plus various combinations of grandparents, aunts and other family) of supporters taking photos and videos of the lesson from the side of the pool (with all of the other dcs in the shots too) despite the pool having a no cameras rule. The swim school assured me they would have a word with this childs mum and ask her not to 1. Bring so many supporters to crowd the poolside and 2. Under no circumstances was she allowed to photograph or video the lesson. Fine...
This weeks swimming lesson rolls around and CF parent drops ds off to swimming lessons wearing her own swimsuit and decides to use the sauna and hydrotherapy pool facilities for herself! She then comes back at the end of the lesson bragging about her "me time" and how all of the other parents should do the same. She says the swimming lessons are expensive so should entitle her to use of the facilities whilst her son is swimming!
Aibu to think she is a total CF and report her to the gym for using
using the facilities without a membership?

I think she was wrong to be taking so many photographs and for the accompanying entourage but you've said that has been sorted. I can't see anything wrong with her availing herself of the facilities while her child is at swimming lesson, better than just standing or sitting around surely?

I’d love to be more like this mum! Yeh she’s taking the piss a bit, but why not!? I’m far too much of a goody goody. Go enjoy some ‘me time too’! One of my best friends sounds like this mum in her ‘don’t give a shit attitude’. I hated her when we first met... now I think she’s the best person ever!

I belonged to a health club which rented out one of its two smallish pools for kids' swimming lessons a couple of mornings a week.
There were no problems until all several of the mothers decided to have a swim themselves during the lesson in the second pool which was also small but basically just for lap swimming.
(The mums weren't allowed to watch the DC -- that was the policy of
the swimming lesson organisers) .
Unfortunately none of them were club members but they thought that as they paid for their kids' lessons they were entitled to use all the facilites.
Some members queried it and the club manager put a stop to it sharpish.

Let it go - the management will soon sort her out if she's doing something she shouldn't be.
And, on the plus side, she's not filming any more.

It sounds like you've just taken a dislike to her.

Don't be the sort of person who self appoints themselves the swimming police, if it's a big problem the gym staff will pick up on it.

I think you are too heavily invested in this woman. You sound like you liked the group and dont like change, this lady joined and that has royally pissed you off.

YANBU about the photos.

YMBU (you MAY BU) about the entourage, but only if there is a 'rule' about the number of spectators someone can bring. The size of the bench and the noise is irrelevant IF the facility allows it.

YABU about her 'me time'. The is up to the facility to police, not you.

Well if you have membership why don't you just grab some "me time" like she does while the DC are swimming?

I think the photos/entourage thing is annoying but I'd let this one go - it's coming from a place of pettiness.

Fair enough about taking pictures, but using the facilities during the lesson sounds like an excellent idea.

Are you a bit pissed off that you didn’t think of this first? It’s not her fault that you don’t get any “me time”’ nor is it her fault that you pay a gym membership you don’t use. I think your dislike of her is clouding your reaction to everything she does now.

Ds has swim lessons at a local golf and leisure club. Because he has swim lessons, I can use the gym sauna and steam for free.

Maybe it’s the same set up.

Urgh I hate the me time comment too up there with making memories and living my best life .
She'd probably annoy me too but just avoid her she sounds like a dick . Let her have her me time and ignore her .

Saying that the price SHOULD entitle her to use of the facilities doesn't mean that she's not paid, it's the kind of comment I've heard made frequently when someone's just had to pay out extra for something on top of something already expensive.

She's stopped doing the only thing you're reasonable to have an issue with, you just sound determined to have a problem with her now. You sound jealous of her - that's your problem not hers

Leave her to the managers of the facility. You aren't a member whose enjoyment is being ruined by her using the facilities, so if you start querying it you are just meddling.

So you reported her for the entourage and photo taking and now this appears to have stopped because she is in the facilities so you want to report her for something else and you don’t know the facts for sure?
You sound like you’ve got it in for her.
