To want to buy hand wash

Not even after hand sanitiser. Just some hand wash as we are almost out. The shelves in my local supermarket are completely bare. There are not even any bars of soap left.

Feeling annoyed at the panic buying! Just shop as usual.

I'm very glad we have a subscription to an environmentally friendly toilet roll service plus refill system for shower gel etc. That and we use soap.

All those pretty Lush soaps that I've bought here and there or that I've received In gift sets over the years are all out and ready to be used. Counted 43 last night.

I spoke to a lady on checkout who said many people who had initially had bought loads of quite expensive hand sanitizers, had later come back to return most of them because in the light of day they realised they had blown their weekly/fortnightly food/bills budget.

People at the lower socioeconomic range are just as prone to the herd mentality, but unfortunately can't always have the luxury of adding expensive extras to stockpile. The elderly are the ones I feel for most who usually can't source other options online, and are limited to local shops and the vagaries of stock inventories.

I'm not sure what a pack of Carex is.
It's such a revelation to find out what people use all the time that we never touch. Sainsbury's constantly gives us 'Cleaning/Household Products' extra points coupons. I've long suspected that we use massively less than other households.

There is no evidence of panic buying where I live , no one in my real life is really taking issue with this virus.

Mustbetimeforachange · 07/03/2020 08:04

What's a pack of carex? Do you mean the little bottles of hand sanitiser? Why?

Ginfordinner · 07/03/2020 08:07

There was no evidence of panic buying in our local Tesco yesterday either. The only item I couldn't find was a zero alcohol beer that DH likes. I hardly think that anyone would stockpile that.

This shows that soap and water is the best way of keeping your hands clean. Hand sanitiser is less effective than good old fashioned soap and water.

Cant find loo roll here. So ridiculous
