Parental responsibility

Hi. My DS’s father initially denied paternity even though he knew he was his father. I went to child maintenance and he took a DNA paternity test which proved he was the father 😱 so he has paid maintenance since. He isn’t on the birth certificate so I am wondering if now he is paying maintenance does this give him parental responsibility? He has never seen his DS and has made no contact with us at all.
TIA

Assuming you're in the UK then unless he's on the birth certificate or a court has granted him parental responsibility then he doesn't have it.

Even though there is DNA proof that he is the father?

No PR op. He needs to be on a BC or have a judge grant him it.

Yes. Be aware if he so fancied he could go to court to get parental rights granted.

Why do you ask OP? Is there something you are worried about? Perhaps MNs could help if they have been in a similar position?

I don’t think that would happen. That would take effort and honestly, balls which he most certainly has none!
Thank you x
