SapphireSalute · 05/03/2020 10:17

disney princesses.....cinderella,beauty and the beast, snow white books date back more than 50-60 years....so why are they not ok?

Bunnylady54 · 05/03/2020 10:18

No need for all the language guys

DropYourSword · 05/03/2020 10:19

We’re all adults here Bunny!!

Thescrewinthetuna · 05/03/2020 10:20

Comic books, Disney books etc exist so who cares?

DameXanaduBramble · 05/03/2020 10:20

No need for all the language guys

The fuck police have arrived 🙄

Kaykay066 · 05/03/2020 10:20

Surely if there are books based on any tv character and a child reads them and enjoyed them it doesn’t matter if you think they should only be reading the classics. My nephew is dyslexic and his school gave him very little support so his reading is much lower than it should be but if bloody transformers was what he wanted to read then who cares if you don’t think the same I know my sister would be overjoyed he’s taking an interest in books. I think as long a a child reads it doesn’t really matter what it is they read and if they want to dress up on some random day then they can choose what character they like. Also glad my kids school isn’t doing book day dressing up

Nanny0gg · 05/03/2020 10:20

The point is, it's a horrible, expensive pointless exercise.

Have a Dress-Up day by all means. But this doesn't encourage reading, it completely misses the objective and just causes parents mothers unnecessary stress and work.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 05/03/2020 10:22

The fuck police have arrived oh for fucks sake

We had the school complaining that children were rocking up to school in their normal clothes and a prop...i though that was tough luck for the school Grin

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 05/03/2020 10:22

I agree nanny

JustInCaseCakeHappens · 05/03/2020 10:23

It's only pointless because parents are doing it backwards. Not sure why the stress, work and expense comes from.

BrokenBrit · 05/03/2020 10:24

Oh let them dress up with what they like.

Just don’t fill the world with single use fancy dress and don’t pressure parents to spend money they don’t have on such things.

A football shirt is fine IMO.

Then at school spend the day embracing books, which is what it’s all about after all!

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 05/03/2020 10:24

dame

It might not be the fuck it might be the bloody...

Or both

I used to get a smack if i said bloody...til i was taller than My mum Grin

Yesmate · 05/03/2020 10:24

@DameXanaduBramble fuck police 😂

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 05/03/2020 10:24

I think the whole point of WBD is just to encourage children to read. Who cares what the children are dressed up in. As long as they find stories that they enjoy and can get lost in I’m all in.

Thurmanmurman · 05/03/2020 10:24

Oh for goodness sake! Why do you care? My son went as Dennis the Menace as he like the Beano. I bought the outfit from Asda too and didn't make it myself.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 05/03/2020 10:25

Comics ate a kind of book yabu.Judgy.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 05/03/2020 10:25

are

Lindy2 · 05/03/2020 10:26

Of all the things in the world to get worked up about, that really isn't one of them. Lighten up.

Rumnraisin · 05/03/2020 10:26

Just stop OP. It’s comments like that, that make parents so stressed out about judgy people like you on sodding WBD. Just sort your own out for god’s sake.

Completely agree NannyOgg

Mrsjayy · 05/03/2020 10:27

It's only pointless because parents are doing it backwards. Not sure why the stress, work and expense comes from.

I have no idea but essentially nobody wants their child to miss out whichhas the knock on effect it is just added stress.

x2boys · 05/03/2020 10:27

That's ridiculous Rufus ! So school would prefer that you spend ££££,s on a costume your child will wear once ?? Are they contributing to the cost ? My son has gone in a bear onsie ,we already had it at home,he's disabled at a special school so getting the kids to participate is a challenge as it is ,I'm not spending money on a one off costume ,that He won't wear again and has no interest in.

RogueV · 05/03/2020 10:29

Wow you’re a knob

There are plenty of Transformers books around. If it gets a child reading then what’s the problem?

As for superheros - if I remember correctly they first appeared in comics which were read no?

Kirkman · 05/03/2020 10:31

Yes there are transformer books

Also, some parents just cant afford another outfits/to cut up clothes to make something different.

Some dont have the skill or time.

It's not really your business.

MagicMojito · 05/03/2020 10:32

You're one of "Those" parents.....congrats Star
