Grant Shapps was just on TV discussing the collapse of FlyBe. Despite last minute talks to try to save the airline, he delivered the news with a huge grin on his face.

Boris was the same yesterday talking about the Coronavirus., He looked like he was about to crack a joke!

I really can't be arsed to research too deeply, but I am thinking they have all been schooled by media advisers that this is the best tactic for engaging with the media when you are spouting absolute shite. It's easy to learn (would have to be) and minimises the chances of those "in between" frames that can get published where it looks like you are struggling to understand the concept of air.

It also gives the impression you are winning an argument.

There are of course countermeasures. But I doubt any UK TV stations would know or care.
