Going to a funeral with a mild cold!

It’s my grandads funeral so it’s not like I can skip it. I don’t want to skip it and attend to go. My immediate family won’t bat an eyelid at me being a bit sniffly.

There will be a lot of elderly relatives of his most of which I’ve never really met there but I have woken up with a cold. I am concerned I will worry them over coronavirus.

^^ I know it’s not coronavirus - I have a scratchy throat, sniffly and sneezing but no cough. It’s not severe. I don’t feel nor do I have a fever. It’s just the sniffles that I’ve caught from dc.

Aibu just to go like normal? And if people worry about my cold symptoms so be it..

It’s the funeral service and then the burial but that’s only for a handful of us and I don’t know if I’ll go to the after because I have dc to get back to.

I'd go, explain it's just a cold.

FlowersI think you should go, and just make sure you don’t cough or sneeze on anyone. I’m not sure how realistic it is that we’d never be near anyone with a cold, even at the moment.
I hope it goes well, and sorry to hear about your loss

Of course you should go. It’s a cold. And you need to be there.

I have a cold and have just carried on, no ones mentioned CV. Like you said, the CV symptoms aren’t the same as a cold.

Thanks all. I do intend to go. I am thankful I don’t have a cough with it as that might raise some eyebrows!

I’m certain everyone will be crying and emotional anyway - he was a popular man so the sniffles won’t look anything out the ordinary! Just hope I don’t have a sneezing fit!

I am guilty of being concerned about it myself though. I have relatives travelling from further afield. One Works in the nhs and the other goes abroad several times a year (loaded). I hope there’s too much hugging or hand shaking - I’ll tell people not to hug me because I have a cold 🤧
