I have previously worked as a Nanny and also employed Nannies, just wondered what present day thinking is regarding having a camera within the home to ensure a childcarer is providing suitable care.
What are the legal issues involved, has anyone considered using one or does anybody have any experience of this.

Overt or covert?

You can find the legalities on Google.

As far as I'm aware, they have to know about being filmed, they may not be filmed in private areas (such as the bathroom) and you mustn't release the footage to 3rd parties.

I agree with @WorraLiberty , tread very carefully.
Make sure that you aren’t recording sound particularly as you could be in breach of data protection rules if she happens to be on her phone and having a private conversation in which confidential information is being divulged, eg her bank account details.
