Holiday pay Aibu

I work full time doing shift work across 7 days a week. We have an online holiday booking system that allows us to book annual leave and deducts 7hrs per days annual leave taken. I booked 5 days annual leave deducting 35hrs from my holiday allowance.

Having looked at my payslip, I’ve only been paid for 20hrs holiday for that time period. That’s wrong right? Once I’ve deducted the hours from my total holiday allowance, it should all be paid?

I’ve a feeling they’ve just paid up to my contracted hours, and not exceeded it. Even though the holiday allowance plus the hours I did in fact work exceed my contract hours.

Has anyone else had similar issues with annual leave payment before I find out I’m being completely wrong about this!

Yes that is wrong.
Your holiday pay should be an average of the last 6 weeks pay, so if you work 30 hours 1 week and 40 the next in an alternating pattern an average would be 35 hours. However if you work 35hours every week you should be paid 35 hours not 20

Ypir contracted hours are 20 do everything else is overtime?

WeirdTrees · 04/03/2020 10:37

Sorry no, The monthly contracted hours are 128. I had actually worked 107hrs that month. I’ve been paid 20hrs holiday, however I used up 35hrs from my holiday allowance. It seems as though they’ve just made up to my total hours, even though I obviously worked in excess of my hours on the days I was at work (not sure if that’s making sense!)

Is it all in the same pay period or will some carry over to next month’s pay?

How did your payroll department explain the difference?

I have to admit I don't understand the complexities of the pay system but if you have only had 20 hours Annual Leave paid (and asked for 35) can you ask for the extra 15 hours to be credited back to your AL?
