Is this counted as a bike?

Please settle a tiny disagreement for me.

I'm going to be getting dd one of these type of trikes soon. It starts with parent steering and the pedals away, then turns into a proper trike when they're older.
DP has just casually mused how nice it will be for her to ride to co-op or the swimming pool, rather than be stuck in the pram.

I say it will be better for the park/grand parents house, as we will have to leave it outside and carry her around the shops. Or leave it outside the leisure centre. - YANBU

He says it will be aloud in the shops when we're steering, because it's not like she has control to pedal into the shelves. And it can go in the buggy park in the leisure centre. - YABU

If controlled by a parent and no bigger than a pram, then there’s no reason it can’t can’t be used where a pram normally is.

BTW my DD loved hers!

You can take that in the shops.

We looked at those but didn't bother in the end. Went with scuttlebugs which were great, then bikes when they grew out of them.

They fold down so easily. Honestly they were brilliant.

You can take them in the shops no bother. Lots of the mums round here use them.

coconuttelegraph · 04/03/2020 09:14

I've seen people in shops with those and tbh in a small shop I think it's more considerate to not use them. In a huge Tesco with wide aisles it's fine but in my local Co-op would cause gridlock Smile

Good to know! Thanks everyone

When I've used one of those, I used it as a pushchair, taken it in shops etc. I really don't like them though - they aren't that easy to push long distances and there are far better trikes/scooters/balance bikes for toddlers to get themselves around on.
