Doubt inspired by this cartoon!

So DD has requested a certain character for world book day... it’s not one that can be bought. (and yes I am that parent who would prefer not to buy something for these events) so I have made it for her from old boxes, paint and bottle tops.

I am a bit surprised but it has actually turned out pretty good and now I am (over) thinking about what other parents are going to think. Yes I did out a lot of time into it... but I actually enjoy that kind of thing.

So tell me to I can prepare myself. YABU - its OTT and I should have bought/begged/borrowed or done something simple and this is just showing off. YANBU - make what you and your DC want and enjoy it

Last year my DD wanted to be a crayon.
She looked relatively underdressed compared to the hot air balloon.

Need to see a picture of the costume to judge. There’s no way I can assess the quality of your stitching or whether the fabrics are organic unless I see photos.

No one really cares what other parents do , I always by one as I don’t have time to make one . It’s only for one day so do what suits you
