To complain about my hair?

I'm on mat leave so decided to go for a cheaper hairdresser who does mobile.

She's half the price of my usual hairdresser, but my hair is an absolute mess now? She's put highlights in it but their darker at the front and the blonde is really brassy. Also the two front stands of my hair have snapped off half way down their usual length.

I didn't get chance to see it after she did it as she left the foils in (one of my DDS had woken up and needed settling) so I left it in for half an hour as recommended and then washed it out myself.

AIBU to complain about this or is this just the price you pay for a cheaper hairdresser?

Doesn’t a Hairdresser need to look at how the colour is taking throughout the process to work out how much longer it needs? If they just put them in and fucked off for an hour I’d be very concerned!

Also, after a bleach wouldn’t you normally use a toner?

HisValentine · 02/03/2020 10:23

After lightening they should be using a toner!!!
Did she do a strand test?

Atalune · 02/03/2020 10:24

Toner after is standard to make sure the colour wasn’t brassy. I’d phone and ask for a full refund and an olaplex treatment pronto.

recklessruby · 02/03/2020 10:32

Colour should be regularly checked while taking and toner used afterwards.
It sounds like a friend did it for free (happened to me once, got a spoldge of ginger right in the middle!) So no you should not have to pay for it.
Also the snapping of your hair is worrying. Sounds like the bleach was really strong!

Thanks everyone, have messaged her and sent her a pic (complete with sad face) of my sorry looking hair.

Has she replied?

She can’t have much pride in her work if she doesn’t even want to stick around to see what it looks like and add a toner after.

Ellisandra · 02/03/2020 18:57

Can’t quite work out if she left of her own accord, or you sent her away because of your child?

Of course you should complain if bleach is left on so long it snaps your hair!

mnthrowaway202020 · 02/03/2020 18:59

Wtf, no decent hair dresser would let you deal with the foils yourself! She’s supposed to tone it at least.

You’ve definitely had a dodgy stylist, wouldn’t be surprised if she blames the damage on you

Atalune · 02/03/2020 19:31

Have you heard back?

redrobin123 · 02/03/2020 20:05

Yeah I have she's going to come round tomorrow. I'll see what she says. She's really night, she's got a very young baby so probably not really wanting to be back in work.
