The things you can manage without

Sssshh I have been wearing the same socks since ... well a few days ...
it’s amazing the things I use daily that I don’t need when push comes to shove and needs must.
I’m in for a long day, please share you “like” or “love” but don’t need items.

Same socks for more than a day? That is athlete's foot waiting to happen!

Actually. Microwaves. Haven't had one for years. Only occasionally use one at work.

iheartislesofwight · 02/03/2020 08:28

dishwasher, not had one for years, ditto my car, 6 stone of weight lost because of diabetes and reducing carbs / sugar as a result.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 02/03/2020 08:28

Baby monitors. Can't people hear their babies crying then?

I’m with @acatcalledjohn ... no microwave for nearly 20 years .

QueenOfOversharing · 02/03/2020 08:47

A 'D'P.

CherryPavlova · 02/03/2020 08:47

I’m sure one could manage without most things. It’s whether you’d want to is the question.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 02/03/2020 08:52

Hive
Alexa or google home or the like
A dishwasher - we've never had one
A toaster - we just use the grill and it's better because anything fits in it, whether that be large slices of bread, crumpets or whatever else you might toast

notanotherjigsawpiece · 02/03/2020 08:54

I would be perfectly happy without an iron, microwave or TV. I rarely use any of these - any good dramas or series get watched on my laptop.

Where we live I reckon we could get by without the car 90% of the time, but it would make visiting my parents or PIL difficult.

Solosttoday · 02/03/2020 09:04

Oh no . Couldn’t be without dishwasher . Never, Id rather see the tv go to the dump.

Iron, I haven’t used for years either.
No one really needs those spy devices (google, Alexa etc) that listen in do they ?
Anyone see the Amazon documentary ? Mmmm interesting.

Pyjamaface · 02/03/2020 09:14

Microwave - it just ended up being used to defrost stuff
Car - even when I worked 45 miles away I took the bus and slept on it
Google home/Alexa - had 3 of them at various times and they were just ugly ornaments so they were all sold
Tumble drier - mine broke so I bought a clothes horse. I won't be replacing the dryer

MingeofDeath · 02/03/2020 09:17

Dishwasher. I hate the things with a passion.

myidentitymycrisis · 02/03/2020 09:29

Dishwasher, microwave, tumble drier, shower, tv.

I currently don’t have a hoover but I don’t think I can live without one.

letsdolunch321 · 02/03/2020 09:29

Tumble dryer
Iron
Dishwasher

roarfeckingroar · 02/03/2020 09:31

I really enjoy ironing Blush

pooopypants · 02/03/2020 09:47

@roarfeckingroar snap!!! Ironing is relaxing and I don't care what anyone says!

crustycrab · 02/03/2020 09:47

Hate dishwashers. Dirty smelly things 🤢

And the people who have them always insist that theirs don't smell. Newsflash - they do, and your plates feel and smell weird

deydododatdodontdeydo · 02/03/2020 09:48

Dishwasher, definitely.
Sometimes it feels like we're the only people on the planet without one.
Stayed at a self catering place recently with one. Used it once out of curiosity then went back to hand washing.
More hassle that it's worth.
