My family and I are due to go skiing in a few weeks time. We are booked to go to Italy.
However we are actually staying on the border of Italy and Austria. We are flying in to Austria and our hotel is only 3km from the border on the Italian side. Skiing will be on the Austrian side.
Now I know obviously the border means very little in terms of germ spread but my wider family are freaking out that we are skiing in ‘Northern Italy’ despite the fact that we are 2.5hrs drive from the nearest outbreaks. I live closer to the U.K. outbreaks than that.
If my hotel was 3km west no one would question it We’re inclined to go (obviously depending on how the situation pans out over the next few weeks) as we feel the risks are very low (we’re with kids so no apres ski etc), and we’re no more likely to get it there than here. My biggest concern is a quarantine situation on holiday tbh. Also as there are no travel restrictions where we are going (currently anyway) we’d lose all the money we’ve paid out. About £3k.
So given the CURRENT situation (as we will be monitoring it) AIBU to still go skiing?!
