Call police or not???

So my neighbour has been disqualified for drink driving twice in last 4 years

Most recent incident was week before Xmas 2019 he crashed on a main road and no one else involved

I drive pretty slow - just met him on a narrow road going. Well above speed limit - he saw me and swerved suddenly just avoiding a collision

Do I call police? Can't really prove much but he is disqualified and I am sick of this behaviour

Sorry in advance for posting in aibu
Didn't know where else to put this

Well done. And report him every time you see him do it. He will kill someone.

Deelish75 · 01/03/2020 15:48

The police will be able track him down from the information you already have.

They probably won't be able to do anything about the incident today - it's your word against his unless you have dash cam. But his car will be flagged and if they see him they will pull him.

You've done the right thing.

Fleetheart · 01/03/2020 16:00

Yes
The right thing
He obviously has a real problem
This may help and he may get more help. Maybe they will impound his car if he won’t stop

Thinkingabout1t · 01/03/2020 16:03

Well done. You may have saved someone’s life.

DecemberSnow · 01/03/2020 16:06

You can also text 80999 for a drunk driver

DecemberSnow · 01/03/2020 16:09

Meant to say.
077814 80999

Obviously of clearly drunk / dangerous 999

MyHairIsSoapy · 01/03/2020 16:16

Well done for making contact and phone every time you see him driving.

looondonn · 01/03/2020 16:21

Thank you
I am getting a dash cam

Don't have one at moment :(
I dread to think what could have happened if I was going faster- was going so slow because the road is really dangerous and it had just rained :0

You did the right thing.

Think of Harry Dunne's family.

jillandhersprite · 01/03/2020 16:54

Thankyou for reporting him

looondonn · 06/03/2020 16:39

Not seen him speed by since I reported him 👍🏻👍🏻

OP posts:
billyt · 06/03/2020 17:27

SuckingDieselFella,

Poor Harry Dunne was killed by someone on the wrong side of the road not a drunk driver.

OP, I'd report anyone I suspect of drink/drug driving in a heartbeat, good on you

LizB62A · 07/03/2020 15:18

Just to say, if you're getting a dashcam, think about one like this that has both front and rear cams Smile

Yes will report him again online
Scumbag and sorry to hear of the people who have been in accidents due to drunk reckless drivers
I'm almost certain last time I saw him he was drunk - speeding and should not even be driving
😡😡😡😡

If he’s your neighbour you must be able to get his registration plate number.

pinkyredrose · 18/03/2020 08:36

People like him make me sick. I'd be tempted to cut his fuel line or tires.

MzHz · 18/03/2020 09:25

Call the police for sure, he has to be stopped

mnthrowaway202020 · 18/03/2020 10:01

Perhaps call 101 this time. I think your report is probably stuck in a queue/admin pile - which is appropriate for minor road offences- but he’s clearly a risk to the public NOW and isn’t ceasing

Ponoka7 · 18/03/2020 10:09

You need to actually call the police. He might be in an area with clear cameras.

The Police can apply to the DVLA to get a person with alcohol issues, license suspended.

Thirza38 · 18/03/2020 20:51

Call 101 give his address
They will be able to find the cars registered to him

SeaGale · 18/03/2020 22:57

My cousin was killed in a car accident with a drunk driver. She was four times the legal limit and her car was crashed into a ditch. She died of head trauma.

Thank you for tackling people like this. I think if you're disqualified multiple times then it should be a mandatory prison sentence.

PawPawNoodle · 19/03/2020 00:14

Out of interest OP is it a "new" car, as in a new one you've seen him in since he's been disqualified?
