Lovely news for them.

I am slightly suspicious of the timing of the announcement - on the same day that the Permanent Secretary to the Home Office resigned amid bullying claims by Priti Patel.

Maybe I am just a little cynical. But I do wonder if they were waiting for a time to announce it that could distract from some negative headlines.

If he were a woman with numerous kids by various partners the press would be having a field day. Instead he is an entitled Eton educated rich knob so he can do whatever he wants.

Absolutely agree. The timing was cynical.

It’s always worth keeping your eyes peeled for announcements made just before Parliament goes on holiday. They sneak loads out then.

I expect Johnson got her pregnant several months ago just on the off chance there would be a problem at this exact moment with Priti Patel and her chief Civil Servant.

Boris Johnson has had extreme difficulty counting how many children he has, even at the best of times.

In this article, Johnson was strongly hinting that these were all his as they were 'a chip off the old block':

Dead cat. Also really seedy. Police called to her flat last year. He can't remember how many children he's fathered. He's just had his divorce settlement finalised. It's just so urgh.

Given a choice, plenty of women prefer the rich/powerful “over to you” type bloke to the average salary/active parent type bloke when choosing a partner. Nothing wrong with it I guess.

It's not going to achieve the dead cat bounce that they hope for three reasons -

Firstly, BoJo is a notorious shagger with numerous children already, so news of him getting someone else upduffed is not that exciting.

Secondly, rumours of Carrie Symonds being pregnant have been circulating for a few weeks now, so the element of surprise isn't there.

Thirdly Priti Patel's behaviour - and the wider issue of Dominic Cummings - is such a shitshow that it can't be buried.
