To have a night away by myself?

I'm nearly 36 years old and I've never stayed overnight anywhere on my own.
Next Saturday I'm going to Manchester for a day of shopping.
I'm from Newcastle so will take a couple of hours to get there.
I'm getting the train there and back but I'm tempted to book into a hotel and come back the next day.
Would that make me a looser?
My plan is get there for 1pm and shop till about 6 pm then go back to hotel and order room service and have a lovely bath etc
Just enjoy a night away really.
Or shall I save the £80-£100 and come home?

Reminds me of Netflix Man from earlier....

I'm only jealous op. Do it and enjoy it!

They're both nice hotels but Malmaison is facing the station and closer to Piccadilly gardens so more central. The Hilton is about a 15 minute walk from the station. Unless you mean the DoubleTree By Hilton which is also on Piccadilly Place so equally as convenient.

ooh sounds lush
do it and have a lovely time Smile

popgoesperfection · 28/02/2020 23:09

Sounds amazing ... go for it Smile

If I was doing this I'd stay at The Cow Hollow in the Northern Quarter. There is no need to restrict yourself, Manchester is easy enough to get around, and there is a free city centre bus service.

Mamato2gorgeousboys · 28/02/2020 23:43

I’d love to do this. Enjoy op!

guineapig1 · 28/02/2020 23:47

Yadnbu! My solo nights away are mostly work related - but I still enjoy them!

Yesmate · 28/02/2020 23:49

Now that’s you and Netflix man that I am jealous of OP!
Have a lovely time!

sintysalt · 29/02/2020 08:29

Can I just ask who is Netflix man? Grin

Why on earth would it make you a ‘loser’? Where have you got this idea from?

BlueJava · 29/02/2020 08:32

Enjoy! I love being in a hotel room by myself!

dellacucina · 29/02/2020 08:37

Do it! Any chance the return on Sunday will be cheaper, thereby offsetting some of the hotel expenses?

dellacucina · 29/02/2020 08:38

Ps I haven't stayed at either the Manchester Hilton or Malmaison, but I think the Malmaison as a chain is nicer and more quirky.

casper2017 · 29/02/2020 08:39

Hotel Gotham is amazing. Some rooms have baths in the middle of them where you can watch tv!

twilightcafe · 29/02/2020 08:42

Do it! I had a solo weekend last month. Just being able to have my own schedule and think my own thoughts was heaven.
Met friends in the afternoon without having to rush back for the kids.
Then went back to the hotel on my own to drink wine, eat chocolates and watch whatever I liked on TV.
No chores, no pets, no snorers - heaven!

Spied · 29/02/2020 08:43

Sounds great.
I'd book first though and drop off my overnight bag.

user1480880826 · 29/02/2020 08:52

Manchester malmaison is really nice. Definitely book in advance though or you might end up in a travelodge!

Largeyellowdaffodil · 29/02/2020 22:32

DoubleTree By Hilton which is also on Piccadilly Place so equally as convenient.

Only has baths in suites
manchester hilton- need to check but doesn't have baths in all rooms
The doubletree is next to the malmaison and the hilton just down the road
