To ask you if I'm ripped off

So I'm fairly new to home ownership and all that comes with it so wanted to canvass opinions here before I open my gob and potentially embarrass myself in RL....

Hopefully my explanation makes sense...

I recently got some decking installed in my garden. A £7k job so fairly big job and it involved 2 levels of decking on top of a walled level in the garden. 1 of the levels of decking was actually already there but was in poor condition so the job included replacing the old decking boards.

The job is apparently finished however there is an almighty gap between between the two levels of decking (perfect size for my two year to roll under) where it hasn't been boxed in and between the base of both levels of decking and the wall beneath so you can see all the previous uneven ground and the base of the decking, cable for the lights etc from the sections of garden below the decking. It's very unsightly.

When the men came to quote I did say I wasn't bothered about being able to see the wall (I.e they didn't need to deck the entire wall below the decking) but I would have assumed that they would have completed down to the wall to hide all the unsightly ground and decking base. It just looks totally unfinished. Where the first level of decking originally was the wood went down to the wall so you couldn't see beneath it but now the old decking has been ripped up and you can see underneath both levels. It's a substantial gap (I could fit through it).

I've now been quoted another £500 for boxing in.

AIBU to have assumed the original job would have included this level of finishing off? It just looks so unfinished I'm really surprised and a bit gutted as I don't really have the budget for another £500 at this time.

There were also some other bits of work in the garden they said they would do but haven't so I'm feeling a little deflated about the whole thing. But appreciate I may just be being naive and maybe it was obvious they wouldn't have boxed in at all.

It would depend what was on the original quote/contract. You can't assume what's included.
