To think these mass religious events should be cancelled sooner rather than later?

There was a Ash Wednesday Mass at the Vatican yesterday. Huge crowds. Pope kissing people & shaking hands. All just as a massive CV outbreak is kicking off in Italy.
Yes I know Rome isn’t badly affected atm, but it still seems very unwise.
Now the pope has some sort of illness but hopefully it’s not CV otherwise things are about to get messy (in the words of Dr Tedros)
Humans just don’t learn!

Why just religious events? Why not all sporting events? How far away from the affected areas should things be cancelled?

They are cancelling Mecca pilgrimage.

Well yes we can include sporting events as well, I think a rugby match has already been postponed. But people don’t tend to kiss everyone & share cups at sporting events.

I was just thinking about potential similarities with the huge outbreak in South Korea that was linked to a Church.

I’m waiting to see if crufts will go ahead .

Do they not have some kind of all-powerful cosmic force to protect them?
If not, why bother going anyway?
