Coronavirus - does it spread without symptoms?

There is a boy is DS’s class who came in contact with someone with symptoms (returned from a holiday). This boy has been in school since Tuesday. Does Coronavirus spread without symptoms? Can it pass from A to C through B without B showing any symptoms?
If you were me, would you keep your child at home?

Apparently yes. Incubation period believed to as long as 24 days, and it is thought that it can spread before symptoms develop.

From what I've heard it can spread without symptoms and people can carry and never develop any symptoms. But if you look at the stats it is not dangerous and not even necessarily severe for healthy people, so the worst most of us have to fear is a possibly nasty bug and the inconvenience of isolation.
