Aibu: long distance boyfriend reads my messages and doesnt reply

My boyfriend works away and is home in 2 weeks and has been away for 1 month.
We're both 24. The time difference is only an hour.
He always hasnt been the most amazing texter but recently it's got worse.
He see's my messages doesnt reply for hours, the video chats have gone down to twice a week, and i feel i initiate most contact,
It's getting me down but maybe i'm just being needy.
I brought it up to him last week that i was feeling he wasnt making much effort and he told me he loves me to pieces and he always will etc. But i dont know, maybe i am needy

I don’t think you’re being needy at all! If my husband worked away I’d want a chat every day even if it was just a quick phone call or video call. I’d be really upset if we hardly had any contact (and he had a way to contact me, it would be different if he was say in the navy and on a ship with no contact) i do think actions speak louder than words and I’d take that as a sign my husband didn’t want to talk to me :( I hope that’s not the case OP and he’s just rubbish at communication and things will pick up once he’s home! Maybe just don’t initiate contact and see how long it takes him?

He did message at 4 saying "heyyyyyyy baby xxxxxxxx", i replied straight away, he saw it about 20 minutes later, and hasnt replied for 2 hours

Its always going to be hard when circumstances mean your partner is away more than home. My DP works away all week and contact can be sporadic at times mainly dependant his his signal and what he is doing but there is always some sort of contact every day.

I think it’s hard to be the partner of someone working away, and it takes a strong relationship with a lot of trust for it to work.

I dont think youre needy. I would say something if its bothering you though
