To worry that I’m never going to lose the baby weight

I know this subject has been done to death, but I’m so frustrated.
Am 22wks post birth after DC2 and still a stone overweight. Had first period a couple of weeks ago and stopped breastfeeding about 5 weeks ago.

I walk every day and eat carefully (ie, few carbs) but the weight refuses to go.

Breastfeeding didn’t help me lose weight with this DC2 (or DC1); with first child I lost weight relatively quickly post stopping BF, but I’m alarmed to see the scales are stuck this time around.

I’ve always been slim and athletic, and found it easy to lose weight, but now I feel as if my inner ‘pilot light’ in terms of metabolism has just stopped. That’s the thing that is really alarming me...just this feeling of sluggishness and that my body isn’t being as efficient as I need it to be.

I’m really worried that I’m going to stay like this because I don’t feel comfortable or attractive at this weight, am still wearing my old maternity clothes and feel such a frump.

It’s only been 5 months or so, I really wouldn’t worry. You’ll loose it but it takes time for your body to go back to normal.

No you won't, it is still very early days and your body has been through a lot. I found it harder after my third baby too which I found difficult as I had always been so slim so I felt like I was in someone else's body so I can totally relate to how you feel. When I stopped panicking and worrying about it, I found it slowly came off (SLOOOOOOOWLY) and whilst I have not got back to my pre pregnancy weight, the extra 4 or 5 don't bother me at all. Hang in there, give yourself time and it will all fall into place x

Took me about a year to lose mine with DC1, not much came off for the first 6 months (despite bf). Then it came off slowly and steadily over the next 6. Might take a bit longer for your bf hormones to die down.
I joined a postnatal exercise class (one you can take your baby to) which seemed to help.

With DC1 and breastfeeding I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight (but not body) within a couple of months. With DC2 it wouldn't shift at all. I was EXACTLY where you are now OP! The weight didn't even start to shift until DC2 stopped breastfeeding and even after it was a challenge. DC2 is 3.5 now (next month) and I'm FINALLY almost back down to pre-baby weight and fitness but it's taken hard work and careful potion size (portioning food is not what you need to be doing while breastfeeding).

Try to be kind to yourself and not take it so hard, it's going to take some time but when the breastfeeding is done you can go harder on it. You won't be like this forever.

I had the exact same happen to me after DC2. With DC1 the weight was off within the first 6 months and I had regained muscle definition but the second time around I couldn't shift that final stone of weight. It took some intensive personal training sessions to lose it and that was just as DC2 was turning 1. You will lose it eventually, maybe consider getting some help at a gym?
