To just want a good quality normal mascara that's reasonably priced?

What happened to just bog standard mascara?

I do not want tubes that wrap my eyelashes or fucking flakey bits that stick to make them longer or 'ultra volume' pornstar lashes.

I just want a normal, good quality brown mascara that doesn't smudge.

Another one for Soap and Glory here! I'm supposed to keep makeup minimal and natural looking for work. This stuff gives a nice length without looking thick or clumpy or false. I have naturally long lashes anyway and this doesn't leave them looking OTT. Doesn't budge all day either!

I’ve been using L’Oreal Voluminous for over twenty years. I love it. I’ve got short stubby eyelashes and it does the job.

Fruityb · 25/02/2020 20:41

Primark ones are great

Stick the tube in your bra whilst doing the rest of your make up so it heats a little, goes on much easier with no clumps 😉

Another vote for Maxfactor Calorie 2000. I’ve been using it for years.

Thelnebriati · 25/02/2020 21:16

I use pound shop waterproof or Rimmel, but with a decent mascara wand.

HelpMeDrRanj · 25/02/2020 21:16

No7 lash impact waterproof mascara - about £13 but the least clumpy mascara I've ever used, it's the only one I buy now

ChicCroissant · 25/02/2020 21:19

Like Olive I've also used the Boots Natural Collection mascara (they have it in brown too) but couldn't find it last time I tried - that's a good reminder to try another Boots!

Maybe I'm not understanding the tubing thing?

I thought this was another kind of thing designed to give unnatural length and/or volume

Tubing means it's not wax based and instead forms polymer tubes on the lashes.
They are quite natural looking as it can't be heavily layered on like wax based mascara.
They are the only ones that don't smudge and are very easy to remove.
I'd reccomend it. A lot of people don't like them because they don't give huge volume and length.

Sainsbury's new make up range mascara it's £3 and brilliant.

Notimeforaname · 26/02/2020 00:00

Aldi mascaras are fantastic!
A friend recently converted me.
Never again will I waste stupid money on mascara.
They've won lots of awards for it,as is the case with most of their skin care/make up products.

MAC

LangSpartacusCleg · 26/02/2020 03:47

Max Factor great lash

Available in more than one shade of black (yeah, I don’t get that either) but the brown is the most flattering. Also available as waterproof and non-waterproof. Waterproof version can survive a full on sob your heart out session (I tested it).

Asda George mascara in a shiny pink tube.
Absolutely amazing for my oily 'panda eye' skin!

Abitofanexpert · 26/02/2020 06:22

I've tried a lot of the mascaras mentioned on this thread and always end up with panda eyes!

My go-to at the moment is the original Lancome but it is SO expensive and doesn't last long. I'll try a few of the ones mentioned here.

I was using the Primark gold tube but the last few times I've been in to buy it, there's been none. The other Primark ones have ended up all down my face Confused

Lilyamna · 26/02/2020 06:40

I second no7 extreme length. There’s no microfibres or anything in it, it’s just a great mascara.

AnuvvaMuvva · 26/02/2020 06:51

I love Max Factor mascara. You might like their 1000 Calorie mascara. That comes in brown. It is meant to be really thickening, but it's not freakishly so - just a good, standard mascara.

I use Max Factor False Lash Effect. It's gorgeous.

Bogoffrain · 26/02/2020 06:54

Essence at wilko. Cheap and fantastic

circleorsquare · 26/02/2020 07:07

Primark gold tube here too!

ProperVexed · 26/02/2020 07:10

Max Factor 2000 calorie is great. Waterproof and non clumping.... I've been using it since they discontinued Aqualash which was bloody fantastic ( the bastards).
