To think there are no destinations possible for our pre-baby holiday?

I'm pregnant and looking to book a babymoon in March as our last holiday as a couple without kids. We really want sunshine and hot / warm weather.

A lot of destinations have malaria or Zika, so are a no-go. We were starting to look at Tenerife as a possibility, (although its less certainty of hot weather) but this week they have had Coronavirus outbreak! (There was also a sandstorm which I presume was a rarity).

Can anyone suggest any other destinations for this trip? Preferably not a very long haul flight. I guess 8 hours from London airports would be tolerable.

Thanks @mynameiscalypso the dicks are indeed out in force. I don't know why!

Yeah, Seychelles literally seems the only hot place without Zika etc.

Morocco though not sure how hot it is in March. I went thr day after I found out I was pregnant and had a fantastic time but would nap in the day as I would get tired. It was roasting though as we went in August.

Madeira off island off Portugal neighbouring island of Porto santo

Greek islands
Southern France

Quartz2208 · 25/02/2020 19:13

I dont think people are being dicks, the threat of being quarantined is very real here or abroad and the risk of losing money if you booked now is high. Coupled in with being pregnant I am not entirely sure right now is the best time to book.

WaitrosesCheapestVodka · 25/02/2020 19:17

Sri Lanka, if you can overlook the terrorism risk? It was zika free in 2019.

Littlebluetruck · 25/02/2020 20:06

@SunnyMumm, I wasn’t suggesting Cape Verde again, I was responding to another poster.

DressingGownofDoom · 25/02/2020 20:10

Those of you saying book xyz place for March, it has no Coronavirus, you do realise the virus has spread to 5 European countries today? We are teetering on the brink of a pandemic, booking a holiday for March is naive at best.

HTruffle · 25/02/2020 20:16

Cape Verde? Cyprus? Sicily? Miami?

Surfer25 · 25/02/2020 20:19

Seville will be 22c in March.

Surfer25 · 25/02/2020 20:20

South Africa.

slippermaiden · 25/02/2020 20:30

Sorry, I didn't read it was coming up soon! Yeah, Cornwall would be a bit bracing! Grin

DiscoJanet · 25/02/2020 20:31

Mexico?

JoshArcherStoleMyTractor · 25/02/2020 20:32

Morocco is Zika and malaria free. Essaouira is very chilled of that's what you want Marrakech a little more bustling! We did both and drove between the two but I wasn't pregnant. The Sofitel just outside of town is lovely peaceful and relaxing, and private car from the airport or
Hotel Le Médina Essaouira Thalassa is more central but also really nice

Cremebrule · 25/02/2020 20:59

Turkey? Somewhere like Fethiye on the coast. Seville or Granada would be nice and probably warm by March.

I wouldn’t personally do Morocco while pregnant. I have never been as sick as I was there and I’ve travelled extensively.

crosstalk · 25/02/2020 21:12

OP I'm sure you'll be fine wherever you go unless coronovirus spreads and you end up somewhere without a hospital or suitable insurance and asking the British Government to ship you back.

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 25/02/2020 21:31

Dubai, Cape Verde, Cyprus,

Geminijes · 25/02/2020 21:37

Madeira

ReginaGeorgeous · 25/02/2020 21:53

The Bahamas hadn’t had any cases of Zika since 2016 and Martinique and the Cayman Islands have been declared Zika free too by the CDC.

Thehop · 25/02/2020 21:57

Ibiza? Marbella? Barcelona? Cyprus? All lovely in March

MarshmallowsOnToast · 25/02/2020 21:57

Mauritius doesn't have Zika according to Centre for Disease control (CDC)

wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/page/zika-information

We went last year when TTC because of the fact it was Zika free. 12hr flight though.

Howdidido · 25/02/2020 22:19

South africa. Like PP have said the malaria is concentrated in a very small part that you wont be going to. The rest is entirely malaria and Zika free.

Jiggles101 · 25/02/2020 22:20

Dubai is awful, there no history or culture there, it's a soulless monument to capitalism and the epitome of more money than sense.

Worst ace I've ever been.

I've just got back from Marrakech, fun place but not very chill! Heard great things about essaoira though.

TheoneandObi · 25/02/2020 23:05

Op can I just reassure you that although your life will change when you become a mother you will
Still be able to have holidays.
Personally I think it's madness to book an overseas holiday right now for the near future.
Do a couple of lovely uk things together and save your pennies. Life is about to get spenny!

Atilathehunter · 25/02/2020 23:09

Miami every time.
