Is he totally innocent I wonder?

Innocent of what?

What’s the alleged crime?

Charlottejbt · 24/02/2020 17:36

Andrew might not have done anything illegal. Plus, we don't know (do we?) how far royals enjoy immunity from prosecution. I doubt he or Ms Maxwell (is she still in hiding?) will be holidaying in the States anytime soon.

Hoik · 24/02/2020 17:38

What’s the alleged crime?

Sex with a minor.

The woman who was allegedly forced into having sex with him was 17 at the time which is underage in Florida.

Charlottejbt · 24/02/2020 17:41

@Hoik underage in Florida, but they slept together in London. I believe Virginia Roberts, but I don't know whether the prince will end up getting his collar felt. Hopefully better minds than mine are at work on the problem, because the idea of privileged gropers (or worse) getting away with it is pretty offensive.

DonKeyshot · 24/02/2020 17:50

The alleged crime is having sexual relations with an underage girl who has been trafficked and/or coerced into what is effectively prostitution by Epstein and Maxwell.

I say 'an' merely because I'm not aware that any other young women have made allegations of this nature against Prince Andrew. However, 5 other American women have alleged that he witnessed abuse at Epstein's home - or one of his homes.

I doubt he's pissing his pants, OP, and, if he is, he has no shortage of either money or staff to provide incontinence pants replacements.

Hoik · 24/02/2020 17:52

I agree that hes unlikely to ever be charged with anything or to face any sort of civil suit but hopefully he'll be forever disgraced by his actions.

Skierrdery · 24/02/2020 17:55

Is one woman not sufficient?

OP posts:
feelingverylazytoday · 24/02/2020 17:56

He doesn't seem to have broken any laws that existed at the time (assuming the allegations are true).
He's probably more valuable as a witness to be honest.

DonKeyshot · 24/02/2020 18:01

In the meantime, Weinstein has been found guilty of rape and a felony sex crime and has been taken into custody pending sentencing on March 11 when he will be facing a sentence of minimum 5 and maximum 29 years in jail.

DonKeyshot · 24/02/2020 18:09

Having sexual relations with a minor is a crime, feelingverylazy.

The law of Florida prevails and according to Florida law Virginia Roberts Giuffre was a minor when she was allegedly trafficked to the UK for the purpose of having sex with Prince Andrew.

recrudescence · 24/02/2020 18:16

I don’t know if he’ll be pissing his pants for the reasons given above. But he will be pretty miserable given that it’s clear that the tenacity of Weinstein’s victims, and the successful conclusion of their legal action, will be an inspiration to Epstein’s. PA must know that the stink around him isn’t going to lift any time soon. If ever.

RedSheep73 · 24/02/2020 18:19

I think Andrew looks about as guilty as a puppy sitting next to a pile of poo, but I don't see what the Weinstein case has to do with it? I'm glad he didn't get off of course, but that doesn't mean every other abuser is going to be brought to justice.

Sagradafamiliar · 24/02/2020 18:20

I wouldn't have thought so as the two have nothing to do with each other.
Prince Andrew has never been arrested for anything, let alone been charged, let alone gone to trial.
Not that I'm sticking up for the fucker.

Brefugee · 24/02/2020 18:21

It means that maybe (hopefully) the tide is turning and the fact of being a well connected white man no longer means an automatic reprieve.

nancy75 · 24/02/2020 18:22

For Andrew to go on trial he’d have to be extradited first - he’s got more chance of becoming king than being sent to America, it’s not ever going to happen
