To think I should have squeezed this spot

In my older years I’ve been trying to take better care of my skin and not squeeze or pick my spots. However is it just me that in many cases this seems to make them worse.

I had a small ish whitehead which I left alone but for a dab of spot gel, woke up and the white (not the spot it’s self, that wasn’t wasn’t anymore swollen) has spread to cover a very large surface area. It was clear I wasn’t going to be able to even wash my face without it popping, which it did and it’s horrific, it’s damaged a much bigger area of skin around where the original spot was (which I can sort of still see in the middle of the mess) and it’s weeping and as the day has gone on it’s gone into a scab which looks like bloody impetigo!!! This is the third time this has flaming happened now. Is it just me? Should I go back to gentle popping early on?!?

Squeezing it is causing the impetigo.

Next time just leave it alone.

Harder said then done I know.

Hot water from the kettle on cotton wool. Hold it against white head rather than popping it. Not scalding but as hot as you can stand. Repeat Morning and night. Gets rid of spots without scarring

I would have squeezed it right away, but then I've never been able to stop myself.

I can't leave a spot unsqueezed. Even on someone else.
