Had a play date over half term and my DS (9) and his friend were skipping in the back garden. His friend is a good skipper, but DS is not so good (quite uncoordinated), but was giving it his best go. Friend had certain expectations (based on what he could do) and directed my DS to do the same moves as him. DS tried but couldn't and then had a bit of a moment at his friend saying of himself that he (my DS) was the worst friend etc.
Is this normal? Do other children do this? How do other children cope with the expectations of their peers that they cannot meet?
