Invariably, victims of sexual violence will question themselves, or be challenged by others, as to why they didn't fight back or make more of an effort to escape. Some people realise that freezing is actually a completely natural and very common response to immediate danger. Far too many people do not understand that though and that has serious implications for victims. Rape Crisis Scotland have some very useful information on the topic (link below). I encourage everyone to have a read. Sadly, you never know when this might be directly or indirectly relevant to you.
