AIBU?

What could you NOT do, even if your life depended on it?

LIGHTHEARTED

After commenting on another thread that my worst nightmare would be to have to dive underwater & resurface somewhere else. You always see it in films & they look like they’ll run out of air. Or they do it on Bushtucker Trials.

I can’t even watch it on tv / a film - gives me such anxiety. It is related to a PTSD issue, so that makes it maybe a bit more understandable, but I’m not sure I could do it, even if my life depended on it. Obviously, I’d have to try... 😬

What, if anything, would you struggle with?

One of the worst things I ever read was a part in a book where someone was stuck beneath the earth in a tight tunnel and had to squeeze and wiggle their way through. She then came to a part of the tunnel that was lower and filled with water. She knew if she went down then the whole tunnel might be water and she would drown. She wouldn't be able to reverse. It talked about the miles of earth above and below her and how she was trapped in the middle. Even now I feel panicky thinking about it. So that.

Skydiving

Same as op, deep water diving (this would-be particularly awful in some underwater tunnel)

Great thread. Agree with potholing or crawling through any narrow dark tunnel.

Who said Geocaching though? Confused That's just looking around fields and stuff for treasure boxes using the GPS on your phone? Grin

Heights.

Don't laugh, but I remember climbing a ladder of a about 14 steps, then became paralyzed with fear at the top and embarrassly had to be "talked down" as if I was decending the Emprire State Building solo. Crrrringe.

For a bit of a buzz, I like to watch those YouTube videos of people climbing to the top of the world's tallest buildings without safety gear. They are a mix crazy brave. And doing something I defo couldn't do if my life depended on it.

Squeeze through a tiny rock tunnel no, couldn’t do that either, or even worse an underwater tunnel.

I also couldn’t pull myself up by my arms , but the tunnel was what I came on to say!

I went caving once and it wasn't as scary as i thought though we did have a group of mountain rescue guys with us. I've done loads of things outside my comfort zone and it's mostly gone ok.

But i can't do French plaits to save my life Grin

Perform any kind of dance routine where I have to remember a sequence of moves. I have been known to slink out of step classes close to tears, I'm that woefully uncoordinated.

Any of the bushtucker trials involving toads, or in fact anything frog/toad related.
Hoppy little fuckers.

I have a whole list, but top 5:

Deep sea diving
Walking across any high glass surface, like that bridge across the Grand Canyon. (I've been to the Willis Tower in Chicago- theres no way on earth I would ever get onto those observation decks)
Touch or be anywhere near a snake
Jump out of a plane
Go caving.

Measure pasta and spaghetti properly. I could feed an army with the amount I put in.

madambee when I was a teenager I developed a huge fear of the deep end of a swimming pool. It was clear water, there was NO REASON ON EARTH to believe it, every reason to dismiss it, but I was convinced there were sharks circling underneath me!

Jump out of a plane!
I’d have to die in the crash, no way could I go parachuting for fun. Even watching freefall or people leaping from planes makes me feel sick.

Being in any situation where my survival depended on my physical abilities. You know in a zombie movie there is often 1 character who is fat, unfit and hopeless and quickly gets eaten? That is me.

Diving with sharks, even in a cage. Huge no for me.
Cave diving, again being trapped in small spaces while underwater is not my thing.
Holding a spider bigger than a money spider. I can cope with really tiny ones, but anything bigger than that petrifies me and I just couldn't pick one up with my bare hands if my life depended on it.
