Don't usually have much cause to go into a bank branch, but in the past two weeks i have been in three different banks for various reasons.
Bank 1) Total of seven staff that i could see. Three in office chatting, two talking just behind counter and two serving. Queue of 7 customers waiting.
Bank 2) Total of five staff that i could see. Two serving and a queue of 6 customers waiting.
Bank 3) Massive open plan central bank. Lost count of number of staff wandering about. Four staff laughing and joking together in a gaggle. Two serving and a queue of nine people. One more member of staff opened a till when it was finally my turn.
What the hell is going on? No wonder branches are closing when the banks must be paying millions of pounds in wages for staff to organise their social lives for their free weekends and evenings.
No wonder customers will do everything possible to stay away from the highly frustrating and inefficient operation.
Do these people not have the sense to see that they are potentially talking themselves out of a cushy job?
Rant over...........
