Aibu not binning ham after 3 days

So, my ohs just told me he chucks ham away after its been open for 3 days, as per the info on the packet. I always keep mine til it's eaten as long as it's still within the best before date. I keep it in a resealable bag.
Aibu not binning it after the 3 day guide? It feels so wasteful. Granted I usually give out of date cooked meats to the cat but still.

Stick to the instructions. They are there for a reason

To make you throw it away and buy more.

To account for people whose fridges are too warm, don't wrap the ham properly or touch it with dirty hands or utensils.

To reduce the risk of it going bad to very very low levels so they don't get complaints, maybe after all that there might be a food safety risk after considerably more than 3 days but seeing as ham is preserved in salt, the risk is very low.

If COURSE it's ok!! It might be a bit dry but unless it smells or goes green it's fine.

I’m with your husband on this one.

I own a feed business after three days I couldn't use it at work but I take it home and we eat it. 😂 Same with most foods, I bring all sorts home that technically should be binned but is still fine for a day or two.
