Child in a jumpsuit for wedding

So my DP's Sister is getting married in May. My DD will be 11 months old. I cannot find a dress I like anywhere!
The only thing I've found that I really like is a jumpsuit, however, my DB thinks that I am insane not putting her in a pretty dress!
My dp is giving her away and acting as 'father of the bride' so he obviously wants his little girl to look pretty.
What does everyone think? Aibu not putting her in a dress? Confused

And I’d agree with CherryMaple that some of the monsoon ones are a bit more weddingy- maybe just because the colours are brighter. This is another one that might work better.

Op literally the first dress on the NEXT website is perfect . How hard did you even look?

What about this blouse / leggings combo from Next?

It’s very simple and not formal. There are so many gorgeous dresses out there. That can be your afternoon outfit for after the ceremony and photos.

Deadringer · 22/02/2020 22:10

You can't really dress a baby in formal clothes but tbh I think that jumpsuit is very casual. Perhaps your dp could look for something himself if it's important to him.

hazeyjane · 22/02/2020 22:11

I'd think you were trying to make a point / hated me

If I wanted to make a point of get the kids to wear these...

t's very wrong and resultantly rude on your part. There are etiquette rules around weddings.
Including tons of unwritten ones. It's not just about your preferences. You're not going to a soft play centre.

Indeed

So a tracksuit would be unsuitable.
A pretty jumpsuit on an 11 MONTHS OLD BABY is absolutely fine.
Even if you are going to a royal wedding.

If I was seeing a little girl in that monstrosity you just showed, I would assumed you were lower class with a massive chip on your shoulder. It looks ridiculous on a baby.

Neveranynamesleft · 22/02/2020 22:12

I feel the cost is irrelevant, it doesn't matter if you've picked something up from the charity shop or got something from Harrods. Really though, what looks nice on one person doesn't look nice on another, everybody is different and without actually seeing the child in the outfit, it's hard to say. This outfit, whilst pretty, isn't a wedding outfit in my book. So its a no from me.

FakeFraudSquad · 22/02/2020 22:13

The Monsoon and alternative Next outfits that posters have linked to on here are far better options OP.

TheSmallAssassin · 22/02/2020 22:14

Some of you really need to get over yourselves, honestly an 11 month old does not need to wear formal clothes to a wedding. Why would anyone care? What do you think a wedding is actually about?

PermanentlyFrizzyHairBall · 22/02/2020 22:14

Are there people actually bonkers enough to care if a baby is dressed 'formal' enough for their wedding?

Yes there definitely are Presumably the baby will be in the photos and some people would want her looking weddingy. Personally I think babies in dresses look silly but not everyone agrees and I don't think it would be worth causing an argument over.

Waveysnail · 22/02/2020 22:14

Romper is fine for wedding.

Neveranynamesleft · 22/02/2020 22:14

I was referring to the original outfit.

L0bstersLass · 22/02/2020 22:15

What does your DP think?

Audreyhelp · 22/02/2020 22:15

Why not put her in a nice dress. This is an everyday outfit . I think a dress is comfy .

TheSmallAssassin · 22/02/2020 22:16

Presumably the photos are about remembering a lovely day and the people who came to celebrate your love for each other with you. How would what an 11 month is wearing spoil that?

ThatFriendsReunion · 22/02/2020 22:16

Maybe I am mistaken and the OP is going to one of these weddings. It seems to be culturally under-dressed there, fair enough.

otherwise, the jumpsuit is absolutely fine. It would have been lovely in all the weddings I have ever been invited to.

It’s a bit “everyday”.

tiredsleepysleep · 22/02/2020 22:18

It's also about thinking about other people, if it's a formal wedding they bride may be a bit disappointed that her niece is dressed like she's going to nursery in her family wedding photos. As demonstrated by numerous PP you can get more wedding appropriate that is also practical and inexpensive.

And before anyone jumps on the bride would quite be in her right to feel like that. The child's father is clearly also thinking along those lines, and wants his daughter to look more wedding appropriate.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 22/02/2020 22:19

IMO it’s fine for a baby, but I find it difficult to understand how you can’t find a nice dress! I’ve seen masses of lovely baby dresses lately - mostly in M&S/JL/Joules.

Bagofoldbones · 22/02/2020 22:19

It’s pretty but my kids would wear that as every day wear.

Could you really not find anything more better? She might just look like a passerby.

Bagofoldbones · 22/02/2020 22:20

Are you making some kind of statement?

ThatFriendsReunion · 22/02/2020 22:20

but it IS wedding appropriate!

Do people genuinely fall over themselves to chose the most ridiculous outfit they can on a poor baby?

People actually buy these tacky outfits? Let me guess, you have grey sparkly walls and a grey sparkly carpet in your lounge, haven't you...

Zara always has nice outfits.

Is nice but maybe too simple but first one on their website! Worth a look.

Give it until Easter and the shops will have more dresses.
