Low grade dyskaryosis & HPV positive

Hello,

I am new here and really panicking when I received my results. I cannot focus and cannot sleep. To anyone who was in the same position as me, did the letter your letter just say HPV positive or did it say what strain of HPV it is?

I am for colposcopy but will the appointment come in a separate letter? I am worried I might have dropped portions of the letter when I knew I was positive. I am not active.

Can someone please enlighten me?

I had a positive one, had a colp then biopsy and then annual screening for a while.

Absolutely fine now. Please try not to worry, it’s very very common.

And no I didn’t have the vaccine as I’m far too old.

@ActualHornist so the HPV result came out negative now?

I had the highest grade of “dodgy” cells and was hpv positive.
Had the colposcopy and had the cells lasered off by lletz.
Smear 6 months later had all normal cells and 12 months later was hpv negative.

@Confusedlady08 yes I think so - this was when I was about 23/24, I’m 37 now and have not had a problem since. I was screen annually for a couple of years, gave birth in 2009 and 2011, and no other issues. I remember being very worried at the time, the nurse said that lots of people get the letter and for most, the colposcopy and/or biopsy seems to get rid of anything suspicious.

No I didn’t get the vaccine. I’m too old.

I had abnormal smear with HPV present

Lltz treatment with clear margins

Annual smears

Then came back HPV negative so back to 3 yearly smears.

It can clear up. Try not to let your mind run away with you, its so common.

It's super common. I had it and went for colposcopy where they removed the abnormal cells. I had a little bleed and went back 3 months later and no abnormal cells. It didn't say on that letter if HPV was present just I wouldn't need to be checked for another year. Try not to worry! If there's anything dodgy they will sort it out

I had abnormal smears and a colposcopy.
I tested positive for HPV.
Within two years it had cleared up. I just got more frequent smears during that time.
It’s very very common. I wasn’t worried. It will normally just clear by itself.
Everyone gets it as some point

I've never had the vaccine, it wasn't invented when I was in school.

@Grembolina how long did it take for the hpv to clear itself?

@doadeer so after the colposcopy on your next pap test it cleared already?

I don't know if it said... It just said there were no abnormal cells which is the potentiqlly dangerous thing

I cant really remember, I had a baby in between too so could have been a few years or maybe sooner.

I had CIN3 that was sorted by colposcopy, nearly 20 years ago. Does that mean I had HPV at that time? And how did I catch it off someone if using condoms?

I know nothing about HPV, no vaccine in existence when I was at school.
