Neighbours use of garage

marthadearr · 21/02/2020 17:31

Our neighbours asked to borrow our garage for a week and it’s been a month now and it’s still being used. Should I politely tell them to take the car or do I let them have it as we use the drive for ours?

Just tell them the agreement has come to an end.

tegucigalpa13 · 21/02/2020 17:33

Charge them rent.

HopeYouStepOnALego · 21/02/2020 17:36

Doesn't matter if you only use the drive. Say you need to use it yourself for storage or something and tell them they need to move their car by tomorrow (or a date that suits you).

Fr0g · 21/02/2020 17:36

Just tell them you agreed a week, and its now been a lot longer - they need to make an alternative arrangement.
WHy did they suddenly need to use your garage anyway?

IanSomerhalderIsAGod · 21/02/2020 17:37

It belongs to you. Take it back. Obviously. Or charge them rent.

sillysmiles · 21/02/2020 17:37

Can you not just speak to them and find out how longer they are thinking they'd want it for. If there answer is longer than you are willing to let them use it, then ask them to move, saying that is not going to work for you.

Iusedtobeapartygirl · 21/02/2020 17:37

Go round and say thst you need the garage back. If you're feeling generous give them a coue of days notice.

MoaningMinniee · 21/02/2020 17:38

Round here council garages are now £15 a week!

fedup21 · 21/02/2020 17:38

What are they using it for? Do they have their own garage?

Just say you need it back.

Thehop · 21/02/2020 17:38

Erm no!!! Tell them you want it back!

Oxo01 · 21/02/2020 17:39

Tell you need it back as you have things to be store there say by next week - end if they have no immediate place to use.

Mummyoflittledragon · 21/02/2020 17:53

Why are they still using it? I’d be telling them the agreement has expired.

Jimmers · 21/02/2020 17:56

I had similar. I just knocked & asked when the car was going to be moved. It was gone within half an hour, and they brought me a bottle of wine to say thank you!

BaolFan · 21/02/2020 18:01

Hi, I need you to finish up in my garage this weekend as I need it back. Can you be cleared out by Sunday lunchtime please?

Newjez · 21/02/2020 18:09

Is there a legitimate reason why it has taken longer?

Bleublue · 21/02/2020 18:10

Tell them it needs to be moved.

Grow a spine.

TheLoveOfMoney · 21/02/2020 18:24

You need to tell them the agreement is over because the longer it goes on they'll accept it as normal and if you do need the garage they are less likely to return it quickly. They are CFs

Durgasarrow · 21/02/2020 19:29

Oh yes, be stern about this!
