To wonder why Disneyland Paris is SO expensive?

Dd4 is desperate to go Disneyland. We took our oldest when she was 4 a long long time ago. It cost around £900 for 3 adults and 3 children for 3nights and Wild West show with breakfast with mickey! We went in February.

Iv just priced for 2 nights for 2adults and 3 kids at £1.300 without anything or Eurostar.

Like what?! How is it so expensive 😩

YANBU I can price Walt Disney world within a few hundred of Disneyland Paris. Might as well go to there!

The pricing does seem to have sky rocketed.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 21/02/2020 17:12

We loved it in Jan/feb. No queues at all!

Id love to go back but the 1300 it would now be (kids under 7 were free so if your kids have grown like mine it might expalin the price hike!)

Not sure on the "save for florida" posts. Not sure I could get to Florida for 1300!!! 🤣🤣

Sickofyoutube · 21/02/2020 17:30

Where do people book Florida? What website? Thank you xx

I took DS a few years ago when our feb half term was a different week to everyone elses. We got a bargain. They were doing kids under 12 go free at the time (which was unusual) and some nights free. They have offers all the time, it just depends what woks for you. You have to play around with dates but it isn’t always extortionate.

For those saying go to florida instead, yes it is better value but there are 5 of them so it will be massively more expensive than a few days in paris. I am budgeting 5k to take my now 13 yo in August and there is only 2 of us!

Scarlettpixie · 21/02/2020 17:33

We are going with Tui to florida. Room only, flights and transfers.

Will buy park tickets separately.

End of august can be good price wise (and for smaller queues). Our summer hols fall a bit later than some and then there are inset days so he isn’t back until 7th .

MuscatelGrapes · 21/02/2020 17:35

It's all that magic, innit?

As pps have said, because that's what people will pay, because it's Every Child's Dream yadda yadda. Like the way the wedding industry creams it in because it's the Specialest Day In Your Life, Every Bride's a Pwincess, You'll Only Do It Once (hmm).

Sickofyoutube · 21/02/2020 18:10

£3.5k for flight and hotel in October for a week.. 😩

icebearforpresident · 21/02/2020 18:23

We went last year and when we booked they had an offer on, book 2 nights get 2 nights free which included the Easter holidays. Keep an eye on the website or get a travel agent to let you know the next time there’s a similar offer, it saved us a fortune.

Zombiemum1946 · 21/02/2020 18:42

Holy heck 3.5 !!!! You could do Florida for half that for 8 nights.

Hagbeth · 21/02/2020 18:45

We've been there and I hated it. Most of the time was spend queuing, -about an hour for each ride! Shock

RUOKHUN · 21/02/2020 18:47

We book villas, flights and cars separately. Depending on how your kids cope, you can do a fly drive from Atlanta to Orlando. Makes the flights cheaper, but is about 9 hours. My grandma has done it though and she was fine!

Get tickets in Florida. We have a friend who is a navy veteran so we get ours cheaper!

UndertheCedartree · 21/02/2020 19:00

We've been twice and loved it. Much better than any other theme park we've been to.

Last time we paid about £1.7k (2a2c) on the buy 2 nights get 2 nights free. We stayed in Club level at Sequoia Lodge which we found really good - seperate much quieter breakfast room, free soft drinks all day and afternoon tea every afternoon included. We payed for the meal vouchers which made eating out cheaper, too. Of course if you go for a lower grade hotel or off site hotel it is cheaper. Are you needing 2 rooms? That of course will push the price up alot.

jakeyboy1 · 21/02/2020 19:06

The prices shot up about 3 years ago when Disney took it back under control. There are still deals to be had though when they have their seasonal offers on and it does hugely vary by day of arrival so mon-thurs arrival cheaper than fri-sun even if you go on a Thursday and stay over the weekend it is cheaper than if you go on the Friday and stay same amount of days.

Intrigued by all the Florida comments being good value. My friend brought her park tickets yesterday and was nearly £3k. She's spent over £3k on flights and accommodation to get out there and hasn't sorted the car yet. To me Florida is £7k plus easily. Admittedly for a longer time period.
Personally I'd rather do 2-3 days in Paris for £1-2k and spend another £5k chilling in the sun elsewhere for a proper break!

Zombiemum1946 · 21/02/2020 22:08

We booked through skyscanner. I put in the dates at the middle of last year and waited to see what the prices went down to for April (school hols) October 2020 prices came out in January, £250 per person from Inverness to Orlando return. Accommodation depends on what you want. It's a lot cheaper to stay off site and there are plenty of hotels close by. We're staying close by Disney this year but last time we stayed on international drive as we were going to both Disney and universal. The hotel had a free shuttle to both parks. It's worth a bit of research to see if it's for you. Fast pass is an add on to park tickets and cuts the time you wait in line, again worth a look.

FizzyIce · 21/02/2020 22:15

I have been to both numerous times and honestly you can’t compare , they’re both very different .
Yes DLP is expensive for a short break but Wdw is extortionate.
We go every other year and it’s easily 10k each time and that’s without spends .
Yes there are “cheaper restaurants” if you want to eat at Golden Corral and mc Donald’s but why go all that way to eat mc d’s ? .. most other restaurants are bloody expensive and that’s without the tips on top and then don’t forget hotel resort fees / parking charges .
It is not for the faint hearted

FizzyIce · 21/02/2020 22:17

@RUOKHUN hell no , tickets are better value if you buy them in the UK before hand ,they don’t sell the same ticket types there as they do here .
You can even pay in instalments over here before you go to help budget if you need to

Meadowland · 21/02/2020 22:24

I never understand why people go to DLP. So expensive. No point in going for the weather either, as the same as in UK, so why not go to one of the great theme parks in the UK instead.

FizzyIce · 21/02/2020 22:28

@Meadowland really? Have you been ?
And actually the weather there in summer is beautiful and pretty consistent unlike here .
And let’s not compare the likes of Thorpe park to a Disney park, they’re completely different

alibongo5 · 21/02/2020 22:42

Not sure if it would work so well with young kids but we stayed in a hotel in Bussy St George and got the train in - much cheaper than staying in a Disney hotel.

icebearforpresident · 21/02/2020 22:53

Not everyone can afford to fly a family of 3/4/5 transatlantic @Meadowland. My husband and I can’t and that’s why we went Disneyland Paris. Flights to Florida cost more than my entire holiday to DLP and our next holiday (in the UK) combined.

user1471590586 · 21/02/2020 22:53

People saying that Florida is cheaper. When I've looked for a family of 4 the parks passes are easily over 2 grand to include Disney and Universal.

If you are thinking of booking Disneyland Paris make sure you check the french/ german etc sites as they often have offers on. Also if you are a big group it might be worth getting annual passes. There are Disneyland Paris facebook groups that are worth joining for tips.

blue25 · 21/02/2020 22:59

Florida isn’t cheaper but it’s just so much better than DLP that it’s worth saving up more and waiting to go there.

DLP was so disappointing in comparison to Florida.

Atilathehunter · 21/02/2020 23:00

Economics 101.
Supply and demand.

Itsjustmee · 21/02/2020 23:26

I took my niece and my Sister 2 years ago In Feb half term for 6 nights full board at the Disney land Paris Hotel so the most expensive hotel on site
Included breakfast and we had 2 character meals a day inc as well which was brilliant and Wild West Show
Return Eurostar and tickets for the whole stay for approx £2600

That was booking in Dec for the Feb with DLP direct

RUOKHUN · 21/02/2020 23:27

@FizzyIce You can get 4 day options in the states too. I still swear by buying tickets out there, but then again I get them discounted.
