Posted in Staffroom but no traffic. Part time teacher at the moment with two boys. Not happy at my school and seen a full time position advertised. School is better and thinking of applying. How do I explain the fact Im going from pt to ft? How do I convince them in the letter that my expensive wage is worth it!

Why do you have to explain anything to them?

What difference does it make to them if you currently work part time?

You don't mention the part-time thing. You justify your wage by giving evidence that you meet all the criteria with flying colours.

Do teachers get to ask for a certain salary or something? I thought teachers had set pay scales?

(Genuinely asking, not being goady).

How bizarre. Why do you need to explain any of that? If they're at all interested, I imagine they'll just assume that as your children have grown older, you've felt able to work more hours. And as for your salary, well you're worth whatever your paygrade is because of your years of experience and/or threshold evidence.
