Worried about toddler DD (photos attached)

Good evening all.
Just at the point of trying to get to the bottom of what could be wrong with my little girl.

At the end of October she became increasingly unwell with lethargy, staring into space, not really doing anything apart from laying on the sofa, being sick and very pale with bags under her eyes.

We went into hospital on the 25th of November where they took bloods, did an MRI head, ultrasound abdo, chest x-ray and referred us to neurology due to the staring into space.

However, 16 weeks on and she is still very much the same - she just doesn’t have much ‘go’ in her, I worry so much that something has been missed as I feel she looks horrific most days.

AIBU to take her back to hospital and ask for more tests?

Whats her diet, sleep pattern etc like?

Push, push and push again. I accepted assurances that Dd was fine, until she wasn't.
You know that something is not as it should be. Keep the pressure on.

Sleeps 13-14 hours a night, usually 2 hours in the afternoon.

Very small appetite most days, but is accepting of fruit and porridge! On Vitamin D too.

OP I have no experience and I’m really sorry to say this but the marks under her eyes look extreme to me. As OP said, push push push and push again.

If you feel there is something not quite right trust your instincts and take her.

She looks exhausted with those bags under her eyes. I don't think that's right. Are you sure she's sleeping through? Sometimes babies wake up and just sit or play without making a fuss.

Sometimes allergies give people those sorts of bags under eyes. Has she been tested?

Keep pushing OP, you know something isn’t right. Insist she is seen by a paediatrician.

Thank you, I’m going to take her back tomorrow. I just believed if the bloods were fine then to accept that and wait for it to pass, however it’s been too long now and I just have a gut feeling that something isn’t right.

She has been off pre-school for months now, just spends her mornings laying on my lap being stroked, a small trip to the supermarket wipes her out for days. At lunchtimes she goes to my Nan’s whilst I work, however currently staying home at the moment due to my Nan just having found out she has cancer.

Yes tested for celiac and thyroid.

Can't help but notice her bulging forehead. Has this been picked up on by paeds ?? I could be wrong but I'm sure it's linked to hormonal issues. Poor little thing, she looks shattered. :/

Has she been to neurology yet?

I was thinking maybe an allergy. Agree with the other poster about the forehead. Seems unusual.

I would, there may well be other things they can test for? Has she had a heart scan, my son was very tired, could barely walk and pale - turned out he had excess fluid around the heart. Reminds me a bit of your daughter’s symptoms. I’m sure they will take you seriously if you explain it’s ongoing with no improvement x

I've a friend whose son has Russell silver syndrome. I remember that being on the checklist so to speak. Like you she got fobbed off for years.

Keep pushing, you know something isn't right and that sort of exhaustion just isn't normal.

Is her only diet porridge and fruit?

I must admit the first thing I noticed was her forehead. Definitely mention it. Bless her heart,I really hope she’s better soon

Oh you poor thing. Definitely go back. If she’s not right there must be a reason.

Hi, no she eats normal meals too but when porridge and fruit are the things that she’ll accept when she’s having a bad day. On a bad day she will ask me to put her meal ‘back in the oven’

Keep at the doctors until you find out what is going on. The lump on her forehead looks like it comes and goes? or is that just the angle of the photo?

You are her parent and you know what is right and not right with your DD. A good doctor who sees a parent return repeatedly worried will respect that as her main carer if you are seeing something not right they need to look further.

Sinus infections can cause this but I am guessing she has been tested for that. Hope she is OK
