Asking for a friend of a friend, I don't know the victim personally apart from meeting her at a party once.

Friend confided in me that friend of friend, call her Anna, is having a bad time. He tracks her, tells her where and when she can go places, criticises her and has got her thinking she is the mad one.

She has mentioned to friend she wants to leave but is too scared, has 1000 reasons why not to (he is a great dad, earns the money, provides etc) and she would have nowhere to go. Friend has offered her a home and financial support. But she still won't move.

Now I understand the reason why she won't, but for the many on this forum that have been there, what would have helped you to decide to go? Was it a particulalry bad incident or would something a friend could do have helped you?

Mumsnet helped me to go. Both in terms threads that I posted on here, and because I made real life friends through a thread on the site who supported me (thread had nothing to do with relationships or EA, and I suspect was a bit unusual!)
