To wonder why on earth Andrew Sabisky is in No.10 and find it worrying

He's an aide to Dominic Cummings according to reports and

-said women's sport is more comparable to the Paralympics that it is to mens sport

  • said it's unclear the extent to which FGM represents a serious risk to young girls
  • suggested enforced long term contraception at puberty to get around unplanned pregnancies creating what he describes as a permanent underclass.

Why is this man being allowed in number 10?

I agree Errol because then you'd be saying 40 percent of the electorate approx hold these views. which I don't think they do. The problem we've got is that it seems now the most far right extremist faction of the Torys are in power and allowing views like this to be aired. In any other job, somebody posting racist and other abhorrent views like he has online would rightly be fired.

8pm. Has resigned according to LBC. Good 👍

bellabasset · 17/02/2020 20:12

At least he's gone - unless of course he is then employed as a contractor to an outside firm that represents the government.

Alsohuman · 17/02/2020 20:13

I have just read that the cabinet are revolting

I didn’t have to read that, it’s blatantly obvious.

Haggisfish · 17/02/2020 20:17

Thank god he’s gone.

ChicCroissant · 17/02/2020 20:22

Does make you wonder which 'misfit' Cummings will appoint next though. I have always been a bit wary about unelected advisers as they don't have a great track history in general!

AlanRickmanFanClub · 17/02/2020 20:26

He has resigned, good riddance to bad rubbish.

Blibbyblobby · 17/02/2020 20:33

This is the problem with Cumming's fetishisation of data and analytics. It gives the veneer of objectivity and the people doing it are arrogant enough to believe they are objective observers, but

(1) as soon as there is a decision about what data is in and what data is out, there is bias

(2) for all the excitement about predictive analytics, it's basically looking for patterns in the rear view mirror that you hope will be repeated. And therefore if a group of people were disadvantaged historically, the data will "prove" they are less capable than the advantaged.

Same goes for that butt-hurt whiner from Google "proving" women aren't cut out to be engineers.

That's not to say that data science isn't a fantastic tool to inform us, just that it's not the supreme tool Cummings-types think it is.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/02/2020 20:38

He should do some lateral thinking and get someone from WPUK in.

Probably Tubbs & Edward from League of Gentlemen. Or are they too left wing for the Tories?

CorporateClaire · 17/02/2020 22:29

I'm sure there's some former UKIP or EDL people who might be willing to give it a go.

He should have been sacked, it looks very bad for the government and the Tory party that he wasn't.

ChicCroissant · 17/02/2020 23:40

I suspect Boris doesn't want to be bothered with the day to day business of actually governing the country so is happy to leave it to Cummings. However you'd have thought that he'd have spotted this as a bad idea earlier so what makes Cummings so gold-plated at the moment? I don't think I've seen anything positive about him at all!

everythingisginandroses · 17/02/2020 23:46

Goodbye, you stupid boy.

TomPinch · 17/02/2020 23:57

He's only 27. The boy is hardly through puberty.

It's hardly surprising that he holds the views he does when so many people think being some wunderkind is a substitute for life experience.

Bluewavescrashing · 18/02/2020 09:13

😁

Can you imagine the panic around the Cabinet table if that happened @ErrolTheDragon

bingbangbing · 18/02/2020 09:28

Who is he?

Did he go to uni?

Where has he worked?

SpokeTooSoon · 18/02/2020 09:31

It’s simple, we have a right wing government, which means they are by default anti women

I disagree strongly with this post on page 1.

The left are far more anti-women in my opinion.

SpokeTooSoon · 18/02/2020 09:32

Anyway, you’re all Labour voters so you don’t want anyone Tories in number 10. Be honest. You’d find fault with each and everyone one of them.

bingbangbing · 18/02/2020 09:35

@SpokeTooSoon

It's eugenics, racism and rape we're talking about here.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/02/2020 09:44

The debacle lasted about as long as I thought it would. In the Times today, Sabisky says he hopes the media learns to stop selective quotation. Well, no, you twit, they won't - especially not when they're so many and various. A self-appointed 'superforecaster' who can't predict that, nor the fact that his views would be unacceptable to mainstream politicians.

I really do hope this debacle helps bring Cummings' judgement into question and reduces his influence.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/02/2020 09:49

you’re all Labour voters

No we're not - anyone who's been on these boards through the election would know that. But yes, Labour seems to be particularly actively anti women at the moment.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/02/2020 10:11

Comment piece from the Times - more about Cummings than ... I expect we've forgotten his name already.

Nope. Nice try though.

There are Tories I’d be relatively happy to have in Downing Street, sadly Johnson kicked most of them out of the party.
