DH says he'd feel embarrassed if anyone he knows finds out. Also thinks I'll only meet strange people.

I think the people, if anyone turned up, would just be regular people like me and we'd have a chat about experiences and a drink.

So AIBU?

Thanks for the replies.

I am going to start the group. Need to find a friendly pub and figure out some way of identifying each other when there.

I don't mind about Roy Croppers turning up, I had a good friend who was a train enthusiast so am used to their ways.

Where abouts in the country are you OP?

Puddlelane123 · 21/02/2020 11:10

Or PM if you prefer not to say!

BirthdayCakes · 21/02/2020 11:19

Sounds great OP - let me know if you're in east Kent...

BarkandCheese · 21/02/2020 11:23

I’d go. I’ve never had a UFO encounter but I’m fascinated by things like that, and not ashamed to let my oddball flag fly. I’m currently very into listening to podcasts about UFOs, cryptids and the missing 411 phenomenon.

MrsScrubbingbrush · 21/02/2020 11:30

Just outside Vauxhall train station in London there's the British Interplanetary Society HQ. When I pass it on the train it always makes me wonder if they have members from anywhere except Earth 😉

TwitcherOfCurtains · 21/02/2020 22:20

Yorkshire Puddlelane123. App won't let me pm closer location.

Since you mentioned flags, do you think a little table flag with an alien logo (or something similar) would be a good idea when meeting?

You'll all be welcome to join GrinWine

He's probably right, but there are plenty of us on MN so you're in the right place to drum up trade Wink

Can I come with a hairpiece shaped like an aerial and make beep-beep noises ... ?

All joking aside, it is not unknown for alien life forms to attend these events. They may not reveal themselves and are not always easy to identify.

Age about 7 or 8 I was absolutely convinced I kept seeing a UFO, turns out my git brother was reflecting a laser pen off a CD he'd hung from the huge tree at the end of the garden, I was very disappointed and do often sit and look at the stars in the hopes of seeing something but so far all I've seen is odd lights walking the dog at night and as I know the local police and local fire station both have drones and the dog walking field is next to a barracks I suspect its drones/training of some sort rather than anything exciting.

BramwellBrown · 22/02/2020 01:26

I'd avoid depicting aliens in case you offend any with stereotypical drawings...

PhilCornwall1 · 22/02/2020 06:45

@BramwellBrown

Absolutely!!! Don't do that on here. You'll be torn a new arse by posters for being "Alienist" and then MN will delete your post.

CheshireDing · 22/02/2020 07:09

I always wonder about the Men in Black that people (Americans as they’re the only ones I have seen say anything about them)😀🤷‍♀️Say have come to their doors to tell them not to talk about what they saw.

Disclaimer - That’s my v basic description as dog walking and posting in the wind !

Yeeted · 22/02/2020 07:23

I’m in Yorkshire (west) and I would definitely join if I were in reach. I’m weird but not in a bad way.

SirChing · 22/02/2020 07:27

What @Yeeted said!

Sugartitss · 22/02/2020 08:29

@Disquieted1 i’m howling here GrinGrin

Yeeted · 22/02/2020 10:15

SirChing are you in W Yorks too? We could open a sub-branch 👽

Strongmummy · 22/02/2020 10:16

You should do it, but I understand your husband’s concern

SirChing · 22/02/2020 16:27

@Yeeted I am. I am well into unexplained phenomena, UFOs. Would be ace.

Nodancingshoes · 22/02/2020 18:11

Me and my friend saw one above an old ww2 airfield just outside Bridgwater years ago. It was a surreal moment that we've never discussed again - it could have been a plane I suppose but it was disc shaped and silent. We were literally struck dumb.

Yeeted · 22/02/2020 21:04

OP you have two prospective members in W Yorks with SirChing and me. Are you in W Yorks? Anywhere near Leeds?

TwitcherOfCurtains · 22/02/2020 21:13

I'm in South Yorkshire, recently moved here from Saltaire actually.
Local branches would be great though!

I come from a small northern town that borders Yorkshire. UFOs were really common. We used to get visitors because of it, one even stayed and set up a UFO group, convinced aliens were among us. What they didn't factor in, and was common knowledge amongst locals, was the presence of a large aerospace factory and a military base not too far

noeyedeer · 22/02/2020 21:28

Posted too soon

... Not too far away. We'd all seen UFOs, but also knew they were linked to the aerospace facility and probably the base. I remember going to the pub and recounting what I'd seen and the workers just laughing and saying, yup, they'd been doing testing of some sort that day.
