To ask summer camp or home alone?

I usually book up summer camp in the spring ready for the summer holidays. However I'm considering not doing it this year. DS 12 & DD 10 don't mind going but they don't particularly enjoy it especially as last year DS was older than most of the others. They would much rather be at home.

AIBU to leave a 12 & 10 year old alone for 3 days a week 9am-3pm whilst at work a 10/15min walk away?

They are both pretty sensible, get on well and would probably watch tv/iPads most of the time (not great but they'll get lots of outdoor time on days I'm not at work!)
I could message them through out the morning and pop in at lunch time too. It would also save about £600. I just can't make up my mind!

Given that is is only 6 hours and you can pop home at lunch time, then I would! You know how sensible they are.

chief wrong thread?!

Every child is different, might I suggest letting them try it out? For example, visiting a friend nearby for the day on a weekend.

I think a week if ipad/TV is okay, but not more for the 12yo
The 10yo is too young.
Take a couple of parental leave weeks?

I leave my 11 and 13 year olds home alone. I’m a 10 min drive away and I text them every hour. They know if they don’t reply within 5 min I’ll ring and if no answer I’ll race home. They’ve always replied to texts.
They do come home from school twice a week and are home alone until 5pm already as are year 7 and 8
I also have a 9 year old and am considering also leaving him.

I would leave them home alone. I would prefer it if there was a neighbour they could call on if needed but you are only 15 minutes away so not a big deal.
